Arrived at the Best Western Deerfield Beach Hotel & Suites two days before a Saturday cruise out of Port Miami. Renato promptly greeted us and efficiently checked us in and answered any questions that we had. Rooms have been recently updated and very comfortable.

Unfortunately, did not have a pleasant experience. The first room I was checked into was under maintenance, things are on the floor, etc. But what made it more uncomfortable was the room was freezing. South Florida is usually warm, But there was a cold snap, and there was no heat, and the AC was blaring when I walked in. I couldn't get the room warm so I asked to be switched to another room. The next room was on the fifth floor. The elevator did not work, but once moved, I didn't want to go through the hassle of moving again. This room could also not get warm, but it was a double bed so I used the extra blankets from the spare bed. Left to go eat came back. The key did not work. Went to the front desk. They gave me a new key still not work how to get Maintenance to fix the door. After all the hassle was hoping they would be apologetic or try to make amends, but they did not until I asked, and what they offered for an extra night stay at discount rate was not ideal. All the hotel staff was very friendly and kind but it's kind of a rundown place and even though it's a budget price, Hotel, I would recommend other locations.
To be honest this hotel is ok, just a mixed bag of good and bad.
First thing to be aware of is the hotel is an older building, But it’s clean, tidy and functional. The rooms are clean, but dated. I had a problem with my bathroom door, in that it locked itself from the outside. I was a little surprised when the maintenance man repaired it by leveraging it open with a large screwdriver. Two of the elevators were out of action, as was the gym.
The breakfasts were a buffet style, these were ok, just don’t expect Fine Dining. I was also somewhat surprised at having to eat off of, paper plates and plastic cutlery. I’m guessing this is to save on wash-up, but to be honest just cheapens the atmosphere.
However the beds were comfortable and bedding changed every day, unusual when staying for 3 nights. The pool was nice as was the very warm hot-tub. Geographically for those with a need to get on the road quickly, it’s very close to the I4.
Now the less than favourable bit; yesterday I had an early start, as I needed to get my son to Miami international airport for 7am. I checked out of Deerfield Bestwestern hotel and the receptionist asked if I wanted my printed receipts. I replied yes, but didn’t have time to look at them as we were in a hurry, the rooms I’d booked were all pre-paid and we never had any extras, the receptionist made no reference to the $109 worth per room of fees.
Later on that morning and taking a break on my journey to the Keys, I was shocked and pretty miffed at this error. I spent the best part of 90 minutes trying to contact the hotel and it resulted in me speaking to Bestwestern UK, to in turn be put through to customer services international, to get the situation resolved. Thankfully a very helpful lady called Monique, advised me that the hotel had somehow managed to add the taxes, room charges and various other fees to my bill which had all been pre-paid. Unnecessary hassle and stress.
This hotel is filthy!!! My feet turned black from walking on the floor!
The management is awful. The manager was nasty to my wife but not when he spoke to me. They have welcome cookies but only for certain people. They don’t fix anything. There was a broken elevator the 2x I stayed there. No gym which is promised on the website, broken jacuzzi. They had a flood and water was poring into the lobby.
Dangerous conditions such as huge puddles after rain, perfect for a slip and fall.
There is trash everywhere, there was a q-tip and a tweezer on the steps the entire I was there which no one picked up.
Breakfast is fine except they watch you like a hawk! Got scolded for taking food back to my room. One lady just stares at you while you eat.
Don’t stay here!!! Better hotels nearby.

4 out of 5 stars. Only 1 elevator was working which based on other reviews has been like this for months now, so I used the stairs to be safe. Room was updated, but the updates were failing as the handheld shower piece was coming off the wall and the rain shower head had some parts not working. Couch was outdated though and didn't match at all. Loved having a microwave! Breakfast was great but there were baby roaches crawling around the hot food...gross. Night time reception staff were a little too involved with if I was there alone or not so some creepy vibes at first. So many iguanas (but I love them running around!). Although close to I95, the location was off putting as it was in a more commercial area, but quiet. Pool and hottub appeared clean and functional, but I wasn't there for that. Balcony doors were not functional. When I finally got it to close, I rigged the lock to actually work and barricaded it shut also. Danica and the food staff were all very friendly and not overwhelming in any way.
