I recently stayed at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront and unfortunately the experience did not match what you would expect from the Hilton brand.
The hotel itself feels very outdated. The rooms and décor are worn and clearly in need of renovation. The refrigerator in the room looked old and partially broken, almost like it had been placed there simply so the room could technically advertise having one.
What was most frustrating was the lack of transparency around extra fees and logistics. When you arrive for check-in, you are informed that parking is an additional nightly fee. The valet option is $50 per night but only accommodates cars and small trucks. If you have a larger vehicle, you’re required to park across the road and down the block and walk back to the hotel after leaving your luggage with the bellhop.
When you return, you’re told the hotel is “full service,” meaning you can’t just grab your own luggage. The bellhop immediately takes over, which clearly creates an expectation for tipping whether you wanted assistance or not.
None of these fees, parking limitations, or logistics were clearly communicated during the booking process, which makes the entire process feel misleading.
For a hotel carrying the Hilton name, I expected transparency and a much higher standard of upkeep. Instead, it felt like a property that hasn’t been updated in years while continuing to add surprise fees once you arrive.
If you’re considering staying here, just be prepared for outdated rooms and several unexpected costs that aren’t clearly disclosed when you book.
I stayed at Hilton Daytona for my graduation celebration, and I was honestly expecting much more based on my experiences with other Hilton properties.
Unfortunately, the room felt very outdated — almost stuck in time. The furniture and decor looked old, and there was no proper seating area in the room, which was disappointing for a hotel at this level. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and both bathroom sinks had slow drainage issues. The bathtub also drained slowly.
Additionally, the closet was broken, and the refrigerator did not cool properly. The AC was not functioning consistently, which made the room uncomfortable at times.
In the South Tower, only 2 out of 4 elevators were working, causing delays and inconvenience throughout the stay.
The only real highlight was the ocean view — that part was beautiful. Don Rico’s drinks were decent, and Hyde Park Restaurant was excellent, with great food and service — truly the best part of the experience.
Overall, for such a special occasion, I expected better quality, maintenance, and comfort. There are definitely better and more affordable options nearby. I would recommend visiting Daytona Beach, but staying somewhere else.

If I could leave zero I would! Friday took forever to check in. No toilet paper, Kleenex, or towels in lobby bathroom waiting for room. I told an older gentleman who never called or radioed anyone as I sat watching him. Just didn't care. Granted, a lot of people were checking in this weekend but you should be prepared (and it's not even Bike Week yet). Elevator broke; told us to walk up nine flights! Not many speak English so hard to ask any questions. There are no fitted sheets! Mattress so thin you could feel the box springs on my shoulder. I can't believe Hilton quality has gotten like this. Bathtub didn't drain. Toilet backed up. Soap dispenser outside bathroom had lotion, not soap. Not much they can do with road noise but all night I could hear the car rumble resonating through my pillow. The couch in room was all ripped and disgusting. Had to put towels down to sit on it. Had to back into the bathroom because of placement of door! Curtain rod kept it from moving. Filthy and disgusting carpet. After elevator was working again for a few hours, yup, you guessed it I got stuck for 45 minutes in it! Food I brought back hot was ruined since stuck in there for so long. Kids were freaking out stuck, too. Positives were nice towels and good coffee, small fridge. And the view! For $260 a night as a Hilton Honors member, I'm disgusted. Wish I'd taken more photos. And for $470 a night next week for Bike Week, good luck we won't be staying here again. Never again!

After our 1 night stay, my main question to Hilton is.....If you believe this is a typical Hilton experience, why would I ever stay at one of your hotels again?
Hotel is outdated. Furniture is old and chair in room ripped. Not many lights, so pretty dim. Probably on purpose to not see if the room is actually clean or not. The few outlets in room are supplemented by some outlets on one of the two lamps that are so old, they don't hold the plugs securely to actually work. No USB charging ports anywhere. Shower has the old "single speed", not movable shower head. Whole stay felt like we were in 1960s.
Parking is a joke. No mention that self parking is across the street and with construction in front, valet didn't even offer to let us drop luggage before figuring out how to get back to hotel after dropping off the car. And they charge $35 for this. Only "good thing" is the parking fee is valid until 3PM the day you depart and has in/out privileges.
The resort fee of $25 or $35 gives you "free WiFi", $15 off food per ROOM, not per person, and some other useless things. Breakfast not included, but $26 per person. Even with discount, still too expensive. Interesting that the Hilton Honors program says if you're a member you get free Wi-Fi, so why am i paying for that in a resort fee?
Had only 1 coffee cup in room for 2 people. Called house keeping and no answer at 6:45PM. Took 2 calls to front desk and over 10 rings before someone answered and sent up more cups. Not even good service.
We stayed here due to the good price through the quilt show we were attending across the street. The convenience, similar price to other properties, and Hilton name were why we booked this stay. Would never stay here again. Probably won't try Hilton again, either.
Maybe Hilton should change their tagline from "for the stay" to "pay more, get less".
My husband and I stayed at this hotel over the weekend, and I must admit I was a bit disappointed. For the cost of the stay, I expected more.
The staff is friendly and helpful, which we truly appreciated. However, the rooms feel outdated, and major upgrades are needed across all rooms, not just select ones. Just to give you an insight into how outdated our room was, it contained a mini micro fridge that felt out of place, along with a television so small that we had to gather on one bed, even though we had two beds, just to watch it. We noticed that the room being cleaned across from ours looked significantly better than ours, which makes me assume that paying more gets you a better-looking room.
The cleanliness of our room was lacking, even after a room clean. There were strands of hair on the bathroom floor and pieces of trash left on the floor. The tub was in poor condition, with dirt rings, stains, and scuff marks. The first night, I kicked around in water within the shower due to the slow drainage of the water.
Additionally, the parking situation is inconvenient. Even though you have to pay for parking, the lot is located quite a distance from the hotel.
I do not mind paying more, but I do not feel the price matched what was expected. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t select this location to stay again.
I’m writing this review in hopes that it is used constructively to improve the experience for future guests.
