  I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Holiday Inn in Alachua, Florida. On March 25, 2026, I checked in around 3:20 PM. After arriving, I secured $7,100 in cash from my purse and placed it under the mattress closest to the window because I did not feel comfortable carrying that amount on me. The following morning, March 26, around 10:20 AM, I realized the money had been left behind and immediately contacted the front desk. I attempted to extend my stay but was told I had to come in person with the card on file. I also requested a late checkout and was denied. Since I was a couple of hours away, I arranged for my sister to retrieve my belongings. The front desk confirmed she could access the room before checkout (11:00 AM) with valid identification. My sister arrived at approximately 10:54 AM, before checkout and was granted access. Upon entering the room, she found a housekeeper already inside near the bed where the money had been placed, despite the fact that I had not checked out. When questioned, the housekeeper denied knowledge of the missing cash. My sister observed that his pockets appeared unusually full. When management asked him to empty his pockets, he refused. When law enforcement was mentioned, he declined to cooperate and exited through a side door. A police report has been filed regarding this incident. This situation raises serious concerns about guest safety, room access procedures, and internal accountability. Staff should not be entering occupied rooms prior to checkout, and the response to this situation was deeply concerning. I do appreciate the response from the Alachua Police Department and their full investigation. Guests should take extreme caution with valuables when staying at this location. Update 4/3/26- Holiday Inn has yet to reach out and resolve issue.

  Awesome location. Local restaraunts. Sonnys Bar B Q for a pound of Brisket for all the meat lovers.

  Felt right at home, especially since they have a feral pet cat that has been there since they built the hotel... her name is Holiday ♥️ 😽 ‼️

  The hotel itself was very clean. There were two primary concerns with the room. 1) the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. 2) The blackout blind was 5 inches too short from closing and the bed was very close to the window. So in the morning the light came in and woke us up at 7AM. In the morning when I brought it to the front desks attendance they offered to give me 1000 point of rewards. When I asked what I could do with them they said put it towards another nights stay. But when I asked how many rewards I needed, they said it would be 20000 for one nights stay. They asked me to leave a review on their site, but you can't log into their site. It says call customer service. The next time I think I will go down the road and stay at a more reputable hotel chain. CHANGE YOUR MATRESSES AND FIX YOUR BLINDS. WE ALL STAY AT HOTELS TO SLEEP!!!!!!!!!
