  I can't hate. Big room. Quiet. Friendly staff. More amenities than I would ever use. Having a small kitchen was nice - but the bed and linens and pillows were super comfortable. Overall - 10/10. And for the price... How can I hate?

  Sorry for the essay, I don't usually write reviews but I am very unimpressed from my time here and I want to warn others before they stay. I came to CT to do a pageant and stayed at Candlewood Suites by the airport the first weekend of December 2025. Upon arriving Saturday night I smelled a faint weed odor in my non-smoking room. I also noticed a box shaped device called the QT storm ozone generator on the desk. I couldn't find an exact source of the smell, and since I had somewhere to go I didn't make a big fuss. I only was in the room late at night anyway since I had pageant activities all weekend during the day. I left Monday morning and got a call from management a couple hours later saying that they were going to charge me a non-refundable smoking fee ($250) because the room smelled like marijuana and they had to use a special device to get the smell out! I told them it already smelled when I checked in. I have NEVER smoked a day in my life, I've got asthma. Then I remembered that device on the desk, and asked them if they were referring to that QT box to get rid of smoke odors. No, the woman on the phone said, they only put it in the room AFTER I left...but then how would I know what device they used if they only put it in AFTER someone leaves? After some back and forth on the phone a few days later, I asked what specific evidence of me smoking they had besides the odor (that already was present upon my arrival), and management said they also found ashes?? That was new! But when I asked where these ashes were found in the room, they're "not sure"...Right. I then told them that their ozone generator, which they specifically told me would not be put into a room unless staff believed someone had smoked in it previously, was already in my room, and I even had a photo taken of the room upon my arrival where you can see it on the desk. Then the manager kept asking me why I didn't say anything about the device when I saw it! Uh, why would I know it's not supposed to be there? Seems to me that the staff KNEW my NON-smoking room had been smoked in, attempted to get rid of the odor before I checked in but forgot to remove the ozone machine, then tried to blame me afterwards by saying I smoked, and then again for not saying anything about their ozone generator being in my room at check in because apparently I should've known it wasn't meant to be there...Once I emailed them the picture I mentioned, I got a response an hour or so later with saying that my $250 would be refunded within a week. Y'know, the staff at the front desk in person were very polite and affable, I even had a chat with one of them one night for a while...but the rest of the experience afterwards has left a poor taste in my mouth.
