  Found a dead roach in the bathroom of a king sized bed room. Got moved to another room but since it wasnt paid for through them I couldn't get a discount for having to move at 3 am

For clarity for future guests, the cancellation terms shown on my reservation stated free cancellation until 6:00pm on January 11, rather than being clearly described as a “5-day cancellation policy.” I understand that I missed that deadline when I attempted to cancel on January 13, and I am not disputing that the policy was enforced. My concern was the conflicting explanations provided during the process — initially being told the fee was controlled by Hotels.com, and later being told it was a property decision — which made it difficult to get a clear, consistent answer. I hope this helps future guests better understand the importance of reviewing cancellation terms closely and knowing where discretion lies. I made a one-night reservation and, due to unforeseen circumstances, needed to cancel three full days before the stay — a timeframe that has never been an issue for me after decades of traveling locally and internationally. What followed was a frustrating masterclass in dishonesty and deflection. I first attempted to cancel through Hotels.com, where their virtual agent informed me there would be a cancellation fee equivalent to one night’s stay and advised me to contact the property directly. Fair enough. I then called the hotel and spoke to Wendy, who flatly stated that Hotels.com was responsible for the fee and that she “couldn’t do anything.” No attempt at flexibility, no empathy, just a quick refusal and a shrug. Not convinced, I contacted Hotels.com again and reached a live agent, Richard Kiel, who explained the truth plainly: the property ultimately decides whether to waive the fee. His exact message made it clear that Hotels.com advocates for flexibility, but the final call rests entirely with the hotel. So let’s be clear: Wendy could have cancelled without the fee and chose not to. Instead, I was deliberately misled, bounced between parties, and left financially penalized for cancelling well in advance. This isn’t about policy — it’s about integrity. Honest staff would own the decision. This property chose deception instead, which only reinforces why I now want absolutely nothing to do with staying here. I’m now stuck losing money over a one-night stay I won’t even use, thanks to rigid, dishonest practices and staff who refuse to be upfront. Manchester has countless hotels that value transparency and basic decency — this is not one of them. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. If something goes wrong, don’t expect honesty, flexibility, or accountability from this hotel.

  One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at, and I've stayed at many. I was here for three days this time. Service was friendly and efficient. Everything about the place was spotlessly clean. The complimentary breakfast was delicious, and you wouldn't believe the variety. There is something for every possible taste. Housekeeping kept everything sparkling and fresh. Even the fitness center was immaculately maintained and stocked. Everywhere you turn, there is another little touch to make your stay more comfortable.
