I was here for a total of seven nights. One night in one week, six the next, as part of business travel:
Pros:
- I've been all over the world. This was the quietest hotel with regard to guests I've ever been in. For a week, I didn't hear children, parties, etc. Traffic sound is minimal at best. I only heard sirens one time. It's very quiet, which is nice.
- Stayed in two rooms and both were clean. Even above picture frames had been recently done with minimal dust (yeah, I go that far). No signs of bugs or other infestations.
- Low/no crime area. I never felt my vehicle was unsafe although lighting in the parking lot is sparse.
- Both my rooms had refrigerator and microwave
- Front desk staff were nice
Cons:
- No continental breakfast. I don't suggest eating here because of cost. I didn't do breakfast, but I think it runs around $14 (plated/seated). I had a pizza at the downstairs Bistro the first night but, again, overpriced.
- Extra charge for parking ($40 over 6 days, nothing in one night - government rate). Some things say $12 a day. There is no valet. Not sure what the parking charge is for outside of just making more money.
- Ice/Vending on the 8th floor does not include vending machines
- During the first stay I signed up for the rewards program. They put in my spelled-out email wrong. Lost those points since they won't merge that account to the correct email. At this point it is moot since I won't stay at another Hilton owned between this and the Home2 experience.
- WOW does the bartending staff complain openly about their jobs a lot. All of them. $14 for a margarita that wasn't made right, followed by "I wish we had fresh stuff" and a $6 draft was a real bummer. There are gas stations and a liquor store down the street. Use them, although they are high-priced too, they aren't that bad. Another night two were going on about something someone else had done. Keep that in the back. It doesn't reflect well.
Middle road:
- At least they understood government rate/tax exemption. Their other property, Home2, had no clue. Hopefully you won't have to deal with customer service by phone. Instead of fixing the aforementioned rewards issue they sent me to telemarketing to get points on one of those accounts if I bought a stay in Hawaii. No thanks.
Go again?
- No, and after Home2, owned by Hilton in the same town claimed not to know what government rate was despite our contract, I went back here only because it was so quiet and calm. With that, the rewards problem, the nickel-and-dime situation with parking, the unhappy bar staff and overpriced food/drink, I won't stay at Hilton-owned again. Drury does quite a bit better.
Oh...don't expect cookies at check-in, by the way. They advertise it, you won't get it. Not that I cared or wanted them, they advertise them really hard and...yeah...not a thing. I know people travel with finnicky kids and you guys will be in for a non-treat.
It wouldn't take much to make the wrong things right, but this seems to be systemic to the company as opposed to the property. The parking charge was most ridiculous. I'll get it back from my employer but if you're staying recreationally, you'll be hosed into that.
At least they charged my card on both trips correctly. I was really worried about that...
