  Hotel zonder airco,Wifi is een catastrofe,een typisch Hotel langs de autobaan met een enorm veel late incheck,eigenlijk geen Hotel om uit te rusten....zeker niet,ik raad het niet aan....een catastrofe voor mij....nooit meer....

  1st thing- this hotel is new and has NO air conditioning. It was 27° outside, our room on the 2nd floor was sweltering, there was a very noisy fan we could use and only a heavy duvet for covers when all we needed was a light sheet. Needless to say we barely slept. We booked a queen standard room, as always, and it got changed by someone to 2 twin beds. We were not happy and the person who checked us in was not nice. Amy on the front desk during the day was lovely and helpful but the woman who relieved her was not the least bit friendly or helpful. The window screen did not fit properly so within 15 minutes of arriving we killed 2 stink bugs in our room. Breakfast was supposed to be available until 9:30 am but at 8:20 there were no more eggs and no cheese. When we inquired about them being replenished, we were told they had no more. Location was convenient to our travel route and the Coop and Marché right next door were handy. We would not recommend nor will we stay there again.

  Siendo un viajero frecuente, teniendo cuenta con IHG y con la cantidad de hoteles que visito al año, creo que soy muy poco picky con los sitios en los que me quedo, pero es que este lugar no había por donde cogerlo. Habitaciones sin AC, así que un calor horrible. Parecía que nuestra habitación (la 6, en la primera planta) llevaba sin ser limpiada desde que abrieron el hotel. Las juntas de las baldosas de la ducha estaban mohosas, los botes de jabón sucios y roñosos, la moqueta daba asco, había un olor constante a comida, como si tuviéramos una cocina al otro lado de la ventana. Para más INRI tuvimos 3 escarabajos. Entiendo que uno se puede colar al abrir la ventana para ventilar (ya que la mosquitera parecía del siglo pasado y estaba más roñosa que Sol en el 15M), ¿pero tres escarabajos en diez minutos? Entiendo que es un Holiday Inn Express y que no se le pueden pedir peras al olmo, pero que un sitio sea económico no justifica que de asco. El desayuno estaba bien, aunque terminaba un poco pronto para mi gusto a las 9:30. La ubicación bien porque es tranquila y hay un super y un Burger King al lado.

  Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in — and certainly not one I would ever return to. The experience started the moment we walked through the door. The entire hotel was filled with an incredibly strong smell of curry. It was so overpowering that even in our room on the second floor there was simply no escaping it. It was a very warm evening, so we were relieved to see that the room supposedly had air conditioning. Unfortunately, the “air conditioning” turned out to be an ancient, extremely noisy fan — of which precisely one setting still worked. Technically, I suppose it moved some air around. Then there were the beds. They appeared to be some sort of fold-out beds and immediately transported me back to my student days — although I seem to remember even those being slightly more comfortable. Breakfast continued in much the same spirit. A pan of scrambled eggs was placed on the buffet, where they were simply left to go cold. There was actually a heated serving unit available, but apparently switching it on was considered a step too far. Cold scrambled eggs are certainly one way to start the day. There was, however, one genuine positive: the young woman who welcomed us on the evening of the 10th. She was friendly, professional and did an excellent job. In fact, she was easily the best part of the entire experience. I did find it rather concerning that management apparently expects a young woman to work there in the evening without any obvious form of security or protection available to her. All in all, an astonishingly poor hotel experience for 170 swiss francs. If you are looking for somewhere to spend the night while passing through, do yourself a favour: keep driving. There must be somewhere better a few miles further down the road.

  Important: despite the name, Holiday Inn Express Luzern - Neuenkirch is NOT in Lucerne. It’s actually located in Rothenburg, so keep that in mind when booking. The hotel is surrounded by farmland and open countryside, which makes it peaceful but also quite removed from Lucerne. By public transportation, it can take 50+ minutes to get to Lucerne, while an Uber is around 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Because of the location, I’d say this hotel is best suited for travelers who have a car. One convenient thing is that there’s a Coop and Burger King right next to the hotel, which makes grabbing food, drinks, or essentials very easy. The hotel itself is fine for a practical stay, but the location was the biggest drawback for us. They also dont have AC so in summers they just have a table fan. If your main goal is exploring Lucerne, I would recommend staying closer to the city, even if it means paying a little more. Overall, a decent option if you have a car and want a quieter location, but not my recommendation if you’re visiting Lucerne without one.
