The air conditioning in our room couldn't be turned off; the control unit was broken. The room was freezing, with a stream of cold air blowing directly onto our faces. Naturally, we reported this to reception. They came to take a look but couldn't fix it, and moving us to another room wasn't an option. In the end, we just stayed under the sheets as much as possible, wearing a cap. The next morning, upon checkout, they didn't even ask how our stay had been, so we had to mention ourselves that we weren't satisfied. The receptionist then asked for our email address so the manager could get in touch. After two days without hearing anything, we sent a message ourselves via Booking.com. It took a long time to get a response there, too. When they finally did reply, they offered apologies and a discount on a future stay. We explained that this wasn't really a suitable solution, given that we had only used the hotel as a stopover on our way to our final destination. We proposed a partial refund of the booking cost, but we never received a response to that proposal. In short, we will never stay here again.

⭐ 1-Star Review
Very disappointing experience, especially considering the price.
The rooms are extremely small and the service was poor. There were very few staff members, and even for basic things like towels, we had to go to reception ourselves. The reception was also frequently unreachable by phone.
The worst experience was housekeeping. After being out all day, we returned around 11 PM to find our room completely uncleaned and untidy. When we complained, reception told us housekeeping had marked the room as cleaned at 5 PM, which clearly did not match the condition of the room. We then had to spend almost an hour at reception before the issue was addressed.
For the price, we expected much better cleanliness, service and hospitality.
Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend travellers think twice before booking this hotel. We certainly would not stay here again.

The most rude and unhelpful reception staff I've ever come across. Bathroom was dirty upon arrival and the reception was not willing to help in any way.
Also we requested some other things and they weren't helpful at all... Also overheard other conversations to other guest (German and English) and they were always extremely rude and passive aggressive. The staff at reception should not be working at the front desk if they don't even have the courtesy to be welcoming and kind to guests just like we are to them. Extremely disappointed.
And the scrambled eggs at breakfast look pretty disgusting - see for yourself
Definitely won't stay here in the future.
Was skeptical because some of the reviews but had a great stay. It’s super easy to get to the center of Lucerne by bus 14 or train s4/5. Make sure to get the free Lucerne pass for transit when you check-in and proof of confirmation is enough for the day of arrival if you’re traveling through the city before check-in!
This is the only hotel in the area with free breakfast and it was perfectly adequate for the morning.
The room was modern. Negatives for me are the shower door less design causing water to get all over the floor and the A/C not getting the temperature down enough. This honestly seems to be a theme across many hotels in Europe struggling during the heatwave. The shower grout could also use cleaning.
A lot of reviews complain about price, but this was an excellent value in an expensive city to stay in. The next cheapest option was to stay in a capsule hotel for 100 franc less a night.
