He never once told me I wasn’t purchasing the night I expected. Fast forward to 11:00 AM Friday, I get a random call from Christine, the manager, informing me that they had already removed my belongings from the room and that I needed to return immediately to either “purchase another night” or pay a late–checkout fee. I was stunned. I told her that I had explicitly checked in for Friday, not Thursday, and that Lance knew I arrived at 3 AM. She didn’t care. No apology. No explanation. Just a demand. So now I’m forced to leave work, drive back to the hotel, and collect my things from a room I had already paid $135 for — a room I only occupied from 3 AM to 11 AM because of their failure to disclose what I was actually being charged for. It felt like straight-up robbery. To make matters worse, not a single manager—including Christine—would lift a finger to offer even a minimal discount, refund, or accommodation for the massive inconvenience they caused. If Lance had been upfront, I would’ve happily slept in my truck rather than be tricked into paying for a night I didn’t use. I then called corporate, hoping someone would show basic common sense. Instead, I got Alexis, who spoke like a scripted robot and repeatedly hid behind “policy.” She transferred me to Kate (Agent ID 58986), who said the exact same thing word-for-word. It honestly felt like dealing with a company that trains its staff to recite rules rather than help actual human beings. It’s no wonder this brand is fading — the customer service died long before the reputation did. I will never stay at a Best Western again, and I strongly recommend anyone reading this to do the same.
