Hotel was just average as other reviews have stated. After I checked out, I got a separate charge for $848. They did send me an email explaining that there was some stains on the bedding and that they had to charge me for cleaning/replacement. What bedding costs $848 to clean some stains. I responded to the email and questioned why the amount was so much for just some stains to the bedding. They replied that they would have a manager reach out to me. That was at the end of September. After a few email exchanges, I still never received a call from the hotel manager as promised. So, I reached out to Hilton Guest Services. They have contacted the hotel several times and each time were told that someone from the hotel would reach out to me. It is now the middle of November and the hotel has still not contacted me to discuss this issue. I cannot believe that the hotel staff thinks it is ok to charge $848 for some stains on some bedding and then completely ignore the guest when they question it. Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful. And I am still out $848 and the hotel still refuses to contact me. Addressing Response from Owner: If you read the details of my review, I have reached out to your team via email and they will not contact me as promised. I also called the phone number for the person that emailed me, but got voicemail for someone else at the hotel. So, not sure what is going on there. Then I contacted Hilton Corporate Guest Service multiple times and each time they contacted your staff directly and spoke to them about the issue and your team assured them that they would contact me. Still now, no one from your team has contacted me. Your team is aware of the situation, they have my contact information, they just refuse to deal with the situation and continue to ignore it and hope that I just give up. Well, I will not give up because this is just flat out not right and not how to treat your GUESTS. I am a Hilton Diamond member and very heavily traveled and know the difference between what is acceptable and what is not.

I really didn’t want to leave a review and wanted to give the GM an opportunity to respond to my request but I’ve yet to hear back from them. I checked into this hotel on October 27th and I was truly disappointed from the time I stepped into my room. I received a wheelchair accessible room(that I did not need) and it was super hot. As I turned the corner the light fixtures on the bed were hanging to the side. The furniture was old and chipped and the room smelled as if it hadn’t been occupied in quite some time. The temp in the room was 88 degrees due to the ac being turned off completely. I immediately went downstairs to request another room and was informed there wouldn’t be any rooms available for the remainder of the week. I also explained the things I mentioned earlier. Fast forward to 2am when I awake due to it being hot in the room. The ac has been on for hours and it only cooled to 77 degrees. I picked up the phone and call the front desk to let them know it was hot in the room and that the AC needed to be looked at. I kept the AC on as I went to work, which is about 8 o’clock in the morning. I returned about 4 PM only to realize the room was still cool at 77°. I went back downstairs and explained to them that I had called at 2 AM in the morning to let you know that the AC was not working properly and I wasn’t too for sure as to why it still hadn’t not been looked at. They offered to send maintenance upstairs at that very moment in which they did come and that’s when maintenance told me that the whole AC unit would need to be replaced and then it will take about 45 minutes to do so I went downstairs and set around the pool area, which is nice until that work was complete completed. I went to bed about 7:30 PM and was woken out of my sleep at midnight due to the battery being bad in the smoke detector. I then proceeded to call downstairs to ask if someone could take a look at it. I was told no one was on the grounds to do so, but the young man that answered the phone said that he would come up shortly if he got some time. The guy came upstairs and by the time he came upstairs, I had stood in a chair and tried to take the smoke detector down in which it was hanging by wires. The young man then tells me that since it’s hanging by wires that it should not beep anymore and that he wouldn’t let someone know in the morning that it was in need of a battery. As soon as the young man left, of course it started back beeping and at this point, I just decided to pull it out completely and take the battery out as I was leaving for work the next morning I stopped by the desk to report it considering I had reported the AC before and no one did anything about it. They told me they would get someone to replace it in which they did. I stopped by the desk again that evening, requesting some type of accommodation in which I was told I needed to speak with Jessica, but she was not there and to call the next day. I called the day that I left, which was on Friday the 31st And I have yet to hear from anyone. This was my first time visiting California and I honestly did not expect such a room at $170 a night to be almost like staying in at motel six. The next time I visit California for work, I will not stay here and I will not refer this hotel at all.

I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel that wasn't too far between Las Vegas and Los Angeles and I opted to stay at the Doubletree Whittier. This is a nifty little property that has a lot going for it indeed. Located in a cute downtown area with lots of local shops, bars, and restaurants, I arrived late at night. Too late to enjoy many of the nearby things to do (next time I'd probably stay here and arrive earlier so I could walk around the adorable downtown area). The hotel is steps from all sorts of places to hang out, and it looked very inviting. Parking is free and in an adjacent parking garage. It didn't feel very secure, so be sure to lock up your valuables. At night, the hotel entrance that was most convenient to the garage was literally BOLTED shut, so we had to walk a ways with our heavy luggage to go in the main front entrance. If you arrive later at night, it's best to drop off your luggage with one member in your party and then go park to avoid having to haul lots of bags. The parking spots are also SUPER small, so be prepared to get dings and dents in your car if you have a larger SUV. Hotel check-in was fine, but I wasn't welcomed back as a Diamond Member. It's dumb I know, but something that at least makes me feel valued. We were given an upgrade and had a King room on the first floor that overlooked the pool area. Our patio had a very nice table and chair set-up with a great view of the pool (see photos). Again, super bummed that we really weren't able to take advantage of this since we got to the hotel so late that night. The room felt dated but was very clean, and the furnishings were in good condition. The bathroom was modern and bright, and the bed was so comfortable. As Hhonors Diamond members, we were also given a per-person credit that we opted to spend in the small lobby shop to get some Evian water and snacks. It's a nice perk that we appreciated. The hotel seems to specialize in groups, conventions and weddings, and I can see why. It's a very nice hotel and I'd stay here again. Oh, and the complimentary warm Doubletree chocolate chip cookies provided at check-in were excellent! It's one of the best perks of staying at a Doubletree.

*All of my calls are recorded. (*Let me be clear- If you don't use Hilton, your status changes, and you lose all of your points after a year!) I have also stayed at WAY BETTER locations than this! Got an alert from my bank about an additional $65 charge! I immediately called and was on hold 8 minutes 2 seconds after initial answer. No one checked in, just kept placing the call on hold! Edith answers and I ask about the charge. She says the HOUSEKEEPER SAID I STOLE A HAIR DRYER! 1ST & FOREMOST, I HAVE BRAIDS AND THERE WAS NO NEED FOR ME TO USE A HAIR DRYER! I TRULY DOUBT A HAIR DRYER WAS $65 BY HOW Run DOWN THE ROOM I HAD WAS! Edith proceeds to say call tomorrow morning and speak with a supervisor, she can't help me! I was livid and told her the housekeeper is not telling the truth and this property has reviews about housekeeping saying that customers take things, whether water bottles, etc! Yes, they charge $3 for an 8 ounce bottle! She then says I want to help (sounding sarcastic) but you have to speak with the supervisor and they are NOT GOING TO BELIEVE YOU! EXCUSE ME- WHAT?!! WE BELIEVE OUR STAFF! WELL YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR STAFF BECAUSE THERE WAS NO HAIR DRYER IN THAT ROOM! I NORMALLY ALWATS TIP IN ANY STATE coming from LAS VEGAS, YET I DID NOT LEAVE A TIP BECAUSE THE TOWELS LOOKED DIRTY (DID REPORT TO FRONT DESK ) THERE WAS STiCKY, YUCKY STUFF ON THE WALLS, I WENT AND BOUGHT LYSOL WIPES AND BLEACH CLEANER WHICH I FORGOT MY BLEACH CLEANER SITTING IN THE PART BEFORE ENTERING THE BATHROOM! THEY DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THAT! SPIDERS IN THE CORNERS OF THE WALLS IN THE PART BEFORE GOING IN THE BATHROOM AND I GUESS SOME TYPE OF WATERBUG THAT CAME THROUGH THE DRAIN! THERE WAS NO HAIR DRYER IN THAT ROOM! YOU KNOW WHAT IS CRAZY IS THAT THE HOUSEKEEPER GAVE ME A LOOK THAT RUBBED ME WRONG AND WAS MISCHIEVOUS AND I SPOKE TO HER AND SHE DID NOT SPEAK BACK. I BOOKED A ROOM ONLINE AND WAS NOT THE ROOM I GOT UPON ARRIVAL! My personal feeling- the vibe was off, upon checking in the room was not available and in my opinion, my race is not very welcomed in this location! Sad to say, but that's the energy provided to me! Whoever checked me in said don't leave valuables in the car! No security that I saw! Parked right in front, in handicap, no trees or grass, all to leave the next morning and my vehicle had sticky stuff sprayed all on it! Like seriously! I do NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR PEOPLE OF A DARKER COLOR! I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WITH HILTON & THIS IS DISHEARTENING, I FELT HUMILIATED TO BE CALLED A THIEF AND A LIAR! MY CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY ARE EVERYTHING! #AIRFORCE FAMILY! THE DEVIL IS A LIAR & GOD HAVE MERCY ON THE HOUSEKEEPER WHO SAID I STOLE A HAIR DRYER! I'M GOING TO PRAY FOR HER!
