Staff were friendly without being over the top—just genuine, helpful people. Plenty of parking and no creepy dark hallways. Definitely a 5-star stay, would come back in a heartbeat.
- LSLarry SawallishOct 29, 20254.0The location is excellent if you want to visit the Ventura Harbor. The room decor is modern, stark, and almost industrial. Warning, if you are booking a room with the so-called patio on the first floor facing Harbor Blvd, beware. What you get is a small triangular space facing an 8 ft wall. While staying there the television service went out. I complained and the hotel manager provided a new room on the second floor that had a balcony that did not face the 8 ft wall and the television worked. The description of the hotel says that it has a pool and jacuzzi. The pool and jacuzzi are located in the Four Points Sheraton hotel next door. You will need a separate room key to access those facilities that you must obtain from the front desk at the Sheraton. I did not discover this until I had walked a long distance over to the hotel and that instruction was not provided by the Holiday Inn Express. I came back to the Holiday inn Express front desk and was informed of that. I return to the Four Points Sheraton, arrived, and found no one at the front desk. I, at that point, gave up trying to use the hot tub and pool.

However, there is some problems with their air system, the whole building smelled like foul, even from outside.

After the first bites I told the manager who dismissed them as spider bites. The next morning I found a bed bug, showed a photo to staff, and was moved to another room but the bites continued. I’ve now brought the infestation home and have spent time and money on pest control, lost sleep, and dealt with constant stress. Management failed to take this seriously.
