Arrived on 11/12 as expected to find out they gave our room away that we booked 10 weeks prior to our arrival. The reasoning was "we are oversold". Wife, 2 Kids and five suitcases with nowhere to go. It gets better as they still charged my credit card for the room. Offered zero help in finding us a room at another hotel but did recommend using Hotels.com to find one.

the worst hotel ever. Untrustable people. I arrived to the hotel at 22:00, after a long trip and they confirmed me that my room was cancelled BY THEM. What????. I had been used IHG hotels in many countries for more than 15 years, I am DIAMOND ELITE every year with this guys, and this is the REWARD they give me? But no problem at all. I crossed the road, went to the BEST WESTERN you have in front and got a room, even cheaper than yours. Unbelievable. It was the hotel I was using when I was coming to SFO. Never again. I promised.

Their snack store is somewhat overpriced but there's a McDonald's and an IHOP very close by within walking distance.

The rooms are dated at least 10 to 15 years and this location should not be an express. My understanding is that they have to do a refresh every 4 years to maintain status as Express but this place has definitely not done that. It feels like it was built is the 1970s and was updated in the 2000s. Other than aesthetics, it is a short shuttle ride from SFO, the employees were friendly and helpful. The room was as expected from an older property. Edit: the choices made are not for character. Your decades old lamps and outlets that do not function are c because those lamp styles were not good and were replaced by much better ones more than 10 years ago. Your hallway lighting is also from well over a decade ago and looks terrible. Around 2018 I started seeing the newer round hall light fixtures with the 4 corner lights that the cast majority of holiday inn Express have used. Your stained wooden doors are very old and also not aesthetic as the underside are frayed and chipping likely the reason they were abandoned over a decade ago. You stay booked nearly all the time as far as I can tell. The more likely issue is the decision to not shut down and lose revenue when your making it so easy. This the reason the express should be removed giving ihg members the opportunity to make an informed decision of to stay there or not. I am not trying to be nit picky as there were a lot of things that can be added but they do not change the facts and would just be overwhelming. I didn't even want to add this addition but apparently someone wants to pretend the hotels problems do not exist.
