    We all got sick after our stay there. I feel bad for my little one. The room is dated. The heater points directly and super close to the bed. The toilet water ran slow. Staff are fine. Breakfast is the worst breakfast that we have ever had in Holiday Inn hotels. We have IHG membership so we stay here for availability. If we know the room is this old and the heater can make us sick like this. We would never book the room here. We stayed at other hotels over past years and didn't get sick at all. This time is the worst.

    Its location was great. It was close to highways, main road, shopping area, skiing resorts, casinos, restaurants, hiking trails, beaches and lakesides for water activities, etc…. It was good value from the viewpoints of location, free breakfast, free parking, and clean room. The room was clean but old. The parking was a big problem. There were not enough parking spaces for the number of room. The staff were friendly.

    Bad experience- We booked the room for Christmas weekend for two nights (fully paid) I called the same day to check in via call and inform them we are arriving late. Since there was a road closure due to snow - please keep the room ready to James (night manager) He didn’t respond properly. When we arrived early morning around 4am, manager sky was in the building and she told us there was no rooms in the hotel and she was blaming the James person on this. After a point she started panicking, yelling at my face to get out of the property. I was in the verge of break down, I had my 82 yr grandma and mother 53yr, both were exhausted and feeling terribly cold ,it was -4 degrees outside. We had no place to stay since it was Christmas weekend - all other places were booked. Manager started to yell at my face, asked us to get out. We had no place to go and after 2 hours of search we found an expensive hotel room stay for one night. We had to cancel our gondola reservation and cut short our vacation. They are ruthless and horrible on this situation. I made an official complaint on the IHG Website. So no one goes through this bad and horrible situation because of their unprofessional behaviour.

    ⭐⭐ Stayed at Holiday Inn Express South Lake Tahoe and unfortunately had a disappointing experience overall. The biggest issue was the hot water — it ran out completely. My wife was unable to finish her shower, which is unacceptable for a hotel stay. This alone was a major letdown. Service at the front desk made things worse. When we reported the issue, the receptionist responded along the lines of “I don’t know and I don’t want to know — it’s not my job.” This lack of ownership and basic hospitality resulted in very poor service. The room itself was decent but basic — clean, no frills, and nothing memorable. On the positive side, the location is excellent, very close to downtown and the ski gondola, which is the hotel’s strongest point. Summary: • Hot water: ❌ unacceptable • Service: ❌ dismissive • Room: average • Location: excellent This property has potential, but service standards and basic amenities need serious improvement.

    I had a terrible experience with this hotel. I was traveling with my elderly parents, and there was a severe winter storm forecast during our reservation dates. I called the hotel in advance and was told that because the booking was made through a third party, they couldn’t do anything — but if it had been booked directly with them, they would have refunded it. I then contacted Expedia, who told me they could cancel the booking and issue a refund if the hotel approved. When I called the hotel again, they refused, saying they could no longer help. Next, I asked Expedia if I could change the dates. Expedia called the hotel, and the hotel explicitly told them date changes were possible, asked for the new dates, and instructed me to call the hotel directly. When I did, the hotel completely reversed their stance and said they could not refund, could not change dates, and could not do anything at all. This back-and-forth is unacceptable. It is misleading, unprofessional, and disrespectful of customers’ time. Doing this while someone is trying to plan safely for a trip with elderly parents shows a complete lack of professionalism and coordination. If the hotel truly can’t help, they should say it clearly and consistently instead of sending customers in circles with contradictory answers. I will never book with this hotel again and would strongly advise others to think twice.
