I booked this hotel through my corporate account because I try to utilize IHG points, and it was conveniently located and reasonably priced so I booked.
When I booked my room my options were:
A. Standard room, which had a picture of a king looking bed.
B. 2 Double beds standard - double, with a picture of 2 full beds
Now, logically speaking, this would mean that i should book a standard room as it has a picture of a king sized bed. It is for my pregnant wife and I.
I was told by the woman that I had booked a standard room and I was given a 2 double room.
I was dumbfounded by this statement because I had obviously booked a room with 1 king sized bed according to the picture of the room that I selected.
I told the lady that this was incorrect and i should have had a king sized bed I would have never booked 2 doubles considering its my wife and I and, being average sized adults, we barely fit together in a full sized bed, add in my 7 month pregnant wife and we certainly do not fit.
I was told that they did not have any more rooms at all with one bigger bed.
I was told that I should have known that there was a king bed option (which was never an option when booking) and that a standard room is based on subject to availability. When I see subject to availability, i can only assume that it means that the room in general could get completely booked.
I really hate being made out to be some sort of idiot as if I somehow could have foreseen this when it is absolutely in no way foreseeable.
I am not an expert on Holiday inn express’s. I see a picture of a king sized bed and I book it. “Standard room (king bed pictured)” Yes.
During the first night It was so tight and uncomfortable that I ended up sleeping in the other bed.
Flash forward to Sunday
I returned to the hotel later in the evening and tried to make it to my room as fast as possible. I tried to scan my card a dozen times to get a flashing yellow light. Joy.
I rushed down to the lobby, barely making it to the restroom. I spoke to the man behind the counter who, before i even said anything asked “is your card not working?”
Correct.
He told me that the woman that I had dealt with the night before had made many cards incorrectly. Not only did she give me such off putting attitude she also couldn’t be bothered to correctly make a card.
Another night sleeping in a bed across from my wife.
I was looking forward to relaxing in bed with my wife on a 2 night vacation especially after a long day of moving my sister to town and being beat tired plus soaked from being in the rain all day and was provided with an absolutely unprofessional experience.
I can only imagine on the future trips to visit my sister my wife will not want to stay here again, I dont blame her.

Hot Tub was broken, was told it was broken but worked, when we decided to go there it was cold and dirty. Decided we didn't want to stay as we booked specifically for a hot tub, no refund was offered. Many contractors cooking out in the parking lot with amplified music at night. Would not recommend it seems nicr from pictures but is definitely a scam of a hotel.

It is a motel styled hotel. However, rooms were clean, breakfast area was great and staff were wonderful. The area was actually quite nice and we had no problems.

Great time it's walking distance from food and shopping it was very clean didn't have coffee pot in the room but they brought it up to the room & has a great breakfast buffet as well. Would differently stay again if we go to Monterey gain.

I was very disappointed in this hotel. Compared to all the hotels I stayed in this trip it was my least favorite. The price we paid was ridiculous. First of all it was a motel. The only positive was the breakfast was good.
