Best Western Plus was located in close proximity to my canine pet's Veterinarian Hospital. Jessica was very informative during my reservation call and definitely accommodating the best room for me. Upon arrival, ample parking, quick and easy check, and the sight of a modern spacious room clean and all amenities as needed. I met "John", the maintenence staff, "Ronald", another hotel reservations specialist, whom I met on my second check in, and the other housekeeping staff !!! Thank you to them all!

Staff was very friendly and helpful - except for one guy who didn't seem to care much, though I always attribute that to management. It’s a good location, a few blocks from the boardwalk, so noise from there and the highway don’t reach it. However, Ocean street and Soquel Ave are high traffic roads, so it's not so quiet that you can sleep with the windows open. The King fireplace suite is quite spacious and can easily fit a family with two children 13 and under. The fireplace provided great warmth but very little ambiance. The design of the hotel was interesting, they worked with the angles of the parcel it's built upon. I give them so much appreciation for having EVERYTHING wheelchair friendly! Elevator, ramps, and a lift in and out for the spa. It feels very "ocean side hotel" though some of the wallpaper application appeared to have been done by without knowledge or care. Breakfast was good, the fancy coffee maker was wonderful but those who just wanted plain coffee might be better served with a carafe or two of simple coffee. There were some mechanical problems in the room that we reported to the front desk upon leaving. None of it was detrimental to our stay. All in all a great stay for the price.

The staff are all very kind. The rooms are nice. They have jetted tub rooms. There is a parking fee of $16.50 (after taxes) per vehicle per night that they don’t include in the room pricing.

I recently stayed at Best Western Plus in Santa Cruz and was overall disappointed with how our room request was handled, which unfortunately soured the experience. Upon check-in, we politely asked if we could switch from the booked king-bed room to one with two queen beds — not an upgrade, just a simple bed-type change to better suit our needs. The front desk agent, Crystal, assured us it was possible and arranged the switch without mentioning any additional costs. We assumed, based on past experiences at other hotels where similar switches were done at no extra charge, that this would be free. To our surprise, we were later charged extra for the change. It felt misleading that this wasn't disclosed upfront — it should have been the staff's responsibility to clearly inform us of any fees before proceeding. Had we known, we might have decided differently. Compounding the issue, the new room was located directly in front of the ice machine, which created significant noise late at night from guests using it. This made it hard to get restful sleep, especially after a long day. While the rest of the hotel was clean and the staff in other areas were friendly, this experience with the room change process and lack of transparency left us feeling let down. I hope the hotel reviews its policies on communicating fees and considers guest comfort when reassigning rooms.

This was a last min booking for us. Family of 4 - we booked a 2 queen room. The room layout was strange. We got in late and got a really stuffy/hot room that had no exterior windows and no AC! It was a shock. We tried to change rooms but it was already almost 10 PM and we had to put the 2 year old to bed. And they didn't really try to find us a new room. I did get a fan from the front desk. That helped. But it was not the best sleep. They need to add ventilation or an AC in those rooms that is so lame. Oh and parking spots are TINY! I wouldn't even want to park in them. The parking garage was completely full so I had to park across the street in front of a Pho restaurant. THE GOOD: THE STAFF - Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. Especially the girl at breakfast, she was very good at her job! My toddler loved running around the hallways. The breakfast was good. The only downside to breakfast is they have ONE fancy coffee machine that makes ONE coffee at a time. So the coffee machine always had a line. Wish they had brewed coffee as well. But the machine is nice.
