A beautiful luxury boutique hotel with exceptional attention to detail. The architecture, design, and guest experience all feel curated and premium. You can immediately notice how much thought goes into both the in-person experience and the visual identity online. Hotels with this level of presentation create stronger guest loyalty and much better organic marketing.

I had high expectations for a property marketed as a five-star hotel, but my experience at Hotel Californian fell far short—especially disappointing as this stay was meant to be a special babymoon.
On our first night, the AC in our room did not work. An engineering staff member informed us that there had been intermittent AC issues on the floor, which was concerning. Despite this known problem, we were not able to be moved to another room that night and were instead given fans to get through the night—hardly acceptable for a hotel at this price point.
To their credit, we were moved to a different room the following day where the AC was functioning properly. However, this did little to make up for the initial inconvenience and discomfort.
Cleanliness was also an issue. One of the robes had a noticeable brown stain on the sleeve, and the face towels had visible makeup residue, which made us question overall housekeeping standards.
We booked and prepaid through Chase Travel, but were surprised at checkout with a $55/night resort fee. It was unclear what this fee covered, as the hotel offered very limited amenities and nothing that justified the added cost.
Overall, this did not feel like a five-star experience. Between the maintenance issues, lack of cleanliness, and unclear fees, I expected much better—especially for what was supposed to be a memorable, special trip.

Editing my review.
I tipped one valet guy 50$ for bringing my luggage up. Regret it.
At checkout waited waited to get someone to pick up all the luggage, no one came.
I fell in front of everyone carrying the luggages to the car myself, not 1 staff helped. my leg is completely bruised and I might sue this horrible hotel.
This is the worst place I stayed in in my whole life. Could not even check out because they have 1 staff to checkin and out more than 50 people queuing at reception.
Horrible. I dont know if Ill get my deposit back of if they will take that aswelll to make my stay even worse.
How can this be 5 stars ! Its a motel
