We had a fantastic experience with Amanda at the front desk. She saved us at 11pm as the hotel we had originally booked at (down the street) had closed their office for the evening and we were stranded. Everything she did and said made us feel welcome, and de-stressed us. Thank you Amanda! We will be back.

Overall I had a really nice (short) stay here. For the price, I thought it was a very good value. The room was very spacious, it felt more like a suite than just a room, including a little kitchenette area and a walk-in closet, and even a little "patio" dining area. The bed was very comfy. I liked that I could also have the front window open for fresh air without a safety concern as it is not accessible from the walkway. I particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi at night - so relaxing! Everything was very clean. Front desk service was very friendly. I noticed they have on-site laundry as well. Coffee and packaged pastries served in the morning. Some downsides - I was in the back building, so I had to trek across the parking lot and through the other building to get to the pool area or the main lobby. I was also near the freeway, which was fairly loud, so I wouldn't have used the "patio" for that reason, but, overall it felt quiet enough with the doors closed. The placement of the TV was a little odd - it was kind of far from the bed and kind of off to the side. I don't really watch TV when traveling so this didn't bother me personally, but, it might bother you. Finally, the HVAC unit was not working in my room, which was annoying, but opening the window sufficed. The lights between my bed weren't working due to a broken plug. And there was no outlet near the bed to charge my phone. Overall these little annoyances did add up which prevented me from giving 5 stars. However, I would stay here again in the future if in the area.

I had to take a moment to write this because the service we received truly stood out. We recently stayed at Buena Vista Hotel in San Luis Obispo, and I cannot say enough about Silvia (or Sylvia—I hope I’m spelling it right!). About 4 years ago, I stayed here with my kids, and we absolutely loved one specific room—the executive 2 queen non-smoking room. It was so spacious that my kids have always called it “the apartment” and have been asking ever since when we could go back. When I called to book, I couldn’t remember the exact room number, but I tried describing it—and Silvia immediately knew exactly which room I meant. That alone impressed me. When we arrived, she was hands down the sweetest and most professional person I’ve ever experienced at hotel check-in. You can tell she genuinely cares. When we got to the room, I realized it wasn’t the exact one I had in mind (even though it was the one I had asked for). I called the front desk, and without hesitation—no attitude, no inconvenience—Silvia immediately switched us to the room I originally wanted. That kind of service is rare. The room was clean, spacious, and perfect. My entire family enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and overall this was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had—honestly better than some of the more expensive Hilton and Wyndham stays I’ve had in the past. Because of Silvia and this experience, I will absolutely be a loyal Buena Vista Hotel guest moving forward. The only small downside during our stay was an interaction with a housekeeper. I had asked where I could throw away a trash bag because I had told Silvia I would leave the room clean, and the response I got felt a bit dismissive and annoyed. It didn’t ruin the stay at all, but it stood out compared to how exceptional everything else was. Overall, this place—and especially Silvia—went above and beyond. Thank you for making this such a memorable stay for me and my kids. -Cristina

Perfect location, Prefect Price, and accommodations. We were only in room to sleep & wake up, coffee maker in room & fridge , we had car to get to all the beaches, there were a few places we could have walked to eat, but car recommended. Staff was beyond friendly, like 80 hospilitaty Diana & Diane we were checked in early, they have coffee & breakfast muffins & fruit in lobby. Pool was good for relaxing by, served it purpose. There are beautiful beaches, only was around pool to ejoy weather, while others in our party were showering., little but nice. It is a little dated hotel, but well served our price point & exceed expiations with location & feeling of security & friendliness Served us perfect up early in morning & not back till bed time. We will be back!

Great example how poor customer service changes thr while experiencs. They do not have an option to talk to a live person to make the reservation. I made it online at 830pm. At 840pm I was at their lobby that on the door stated it was open until 9pm. But it was closed. I called using the provided phone and a lady answered demanding to know when I made the reservation. She sounded annoyed. She stated she had to change clothed and I was to wait outside for 10-15 minutes in 45 degree weather. When she arrived she instructed us to walk around the building to get into the lobby. I guess it was just too much work to walk to the door we were freezing at to let us in...lazy. She (no name badge - black curly hair, heavy set) was wearing a hoodie and gym shorts...not professional. She glared at us. The pool and spa are permanently closed. The room was old, decor dated, and huge gap under the door to the outside...any critter like a mouse, squirrel coukd come in freely. I won't return. <$100/night.
