I don’t think I have ever written a negative review in my life, but I feel obligated to share this so future guests know exactly what they’re booking.
I’m giving this hotel two stars — one for the excellent location and one because the room itself was clean. Beyond that, my experience raised several concerns that ultimately led me to leave without staying the night.
The first issue, which I did not realize when booking, is that there are no bathrooms inside the rooms. The toilet was a few doors down, but the shower was located all the way around the corner and down the hall. In hindsight, I now realize this was likely listed somewhere in the amenities, but it’s not something I would have thought to double-check when booking what appeared to be a standard hotel room - not a hostel.
The second major concern, and ultimately the reason I didn’t stay was security. The property operates entirely through an app with no on-site staff. While I understand the convenience of digital keys, once inside the room there was no interior deadbolt, chain, or secondary lock. That meant anyone with digital access could potentially enter the room, and there was no way to secure it from the inside!! As a solo female traveler, this made me feel very uneasy.
I have traveled extensively, including internationally and in very remote locations, and I have never left a hotel after check-in — until this one. I simply did not feel safe or comfortable enough to stay overnight. As a business traveler, I also didn’t arrive prepared for shared facilities (such as bringing shower shoes or additional security devices), because I did not expect that type of setup.
This hotel may be suitable for travelers who are comfortable with shared bathrooms and fully automated lodging, but if you value privacy, security, or traditional hotel amenities, it’s important to understand exactly what you’re booking before you arrive.

Decent hotel with nice interior, spacey rooms and Suuuuper central next to entrance of Chinatown. It’s a shared bathroom type of deal, so not a luxury place, but doesn’t pretend to be either. Friendly and helpful staff, on point for cleaning, too, but mostly unmanned reception. Still, I will come back here next time I’n in SF
There were bed bugs. Rooms were a bit small but for the price, alright.
Overtly tacky with their rooms, though I say "rooms" generously, because it's honestly more of a compact cell than an actual room. The one that we booked had so much going on interior wise that it was giving me literal headaches just trying to walk around, and the small space did not help. We chose this location due to the convenience of being nearby a convention, but we could not relax at all while we were here. The bathrooms are not entirely clean, and apparently some of our neighbors had bugs in their rooms. Our window was entirely obscured and not cleaned or maintained, and we could not see out of them (this does not help with the boxed in situation). Not a place to stay at whatsoever unless you want to experience some psychotic acid trip. It's funny hearing myself say this, but this hotel could genuinely be in an episode in Hotel Hell; that's how unwelcoming the atmosphere of the whole place feels.
The art in my room was offensive, a scantily clad cartoon woman in a bikini top. Also the walls are paper thin. The bed is directly next to the room door which makes it feel very exposed. It is a cheap hotel with bad amenities (no coffee in the room, scratchy sheets, bathroom that needs renovation.) There was also loud music coming from maybe a nearby bar. Kenneth at the front desk was extremely helpful in finding my a new room. He gets 5 stars, the hotel remains a 3. There are other, better options in the neighborhood for the same price point.
