- ATAS TN6 days ago4.0My student and I stayed at the Cartwright Hotel in Union Square for two nights. We each paid $185 for the two nights, which seems like a lot for what we got. The people at the desk were friendly upon our arrival, but I had called ahead to ask about the refrigerators in the rooms, and someone said that every room had a fridge. That was not true. There were no fridges unless you asked for one. At first, they were going to charge me $5/night for the fridge, but I complained because I had called ahead just about this. The room was small, but adequate for two, unrelated people (we had 2 twin beds). There was a heater and we could open the windows (in February) so we could control the temperature. They brought me extra pillows and an extra blanket, which was nice. The problem with the room was that the shower did not drain fast enough and the electrical outlet in the bathroom didn't work, so I had to dry my hair in the room. This is an old hotel and it needs to be looked after better. The common area downstairs was nice, with a working fireplace and comfy sofas and chairs. The people were friendly and low-key. They were not there at our check-out so I had to write them a note about the shower and the outlet. This hotel is close to Cesario's which is a wonderful, Italian restaurant.
