Mixed feelings on this place. Poor management causes the poor review on what could’ve been a great hotel experience.
There was 3 fire alarms in the same night. Despite it smelling very smoky in the hallway and the hotel, we got conflicting responses from the staff with some saying to return to our room as we were evacuating. It wasn’t until other guests voiced concern that the fire department was called to give an all clear. Of course it’s not the hotels fault for the fire alarm, but their response to it really baffled me.
There was no follow up communication. When checking out, I asked about a rate adjustment for this issue, and to the their credit, they did offer $40 back. But I was told it would apply to my balance which is useless since my balance was $0 (rendering this “credit” useless)
I felt like I had to pull teeth to get some support on what is supposed to be a fancy 4-star hotel. There were other issues like the wifi often was down and unusable, which shows the management is cutting corners. Overall it felt like a very plain hotel.
As for the positives, the staff were all nice, and the location is very convenient. If management was providing proper training to their staff and prioritizing some core fundamentals, this could be a great hotel. For now however, if you are trying to use the chase sapphire edit credit, I would consider another hotel in San Francisco and I likely won’t return here.

Horrible experience at this hotel this past Friday and Saturday. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. The staff is poorly trained for unexpected events like the one that occurred when we stayed there. No follow up, they didn't care that we were inconvenienced. Gave me a phone number to follow up and that person has not responded over the last seven days. Still no follow up to make this right. You phone number doesn't work and it doesn't appear that it is Chris Hall. He does not respond to anything. Horrible service.

Severe Safety Hazard and Unacceptable Staff Negligence
I had a terrifying experience at this hotel. Around 4 AM, the smoke alarm went off, and the entire floor was filled with smoke. Despite the visible danger, the staff took an unacceptably long time to assist guests with evacuation.
Even more shocking was the staff's response after we were evacuated. While the fire department had NOT yet arrived and the cause of the smoke was unknown, the staff told us, "If you want to go back to your room, just go back." This is a blatant disregard for guest safety.
When we finally returned to the room, it still smelled strongly of smoke. The management’s passive and unprofessional handling of a potential fire is alarming. Do not stay here if you value your safety.
Even more shocking was the staff's response. When we asked for updates and safety protocols while the hallway was filled with smoke, the staff literally told us, "There’s nothing we can do," and "If you want to go back to your room, just go back." This level of indifference and lack of training in a life-threatening situation is completely unacceptable.
What made it worse was the Manager’s response the next morning. When I confronted the Duty Manager about the staff’s negligence, he dismissed my concerns as a "communication error" and claimed that because the Fire Department eventually cleared the building, everything was "fine."
This is a complete denial of responsibility. The issue isn't the final result, but the dangerous process. Being told to "go back to a smoke-filled room" before professional help arrived is a severe violation of safety protocols. The management showed zero empathy for the trauma we experienced and refused to take accountability.
Stay away from this hotel if you care about your safety—the management will only make excuses for their failures.
I was hoping to get some rest starting around 6 p.m. since I have a very early flight tomorrow morning, but the room isn’t soundproof at all. There’s a sofa area right outside my door and I can hear every conversation clearly, which is making it impossible for me to sleep. I called the front desk earlier; they apologized and said they would arrange a different room, but I haven’t heard back from anyone!!
They say this is a 4-star hotel… but I don’t really think so. This hotel is quite... unremarkable... I almost don't even remember staying here. There was nothing wrong with the room or hotel per se, but there was nothing amazing about it either, it's just somewhere to sleep.
But, the hotel's location is superb. It's in Fisherman's Wharf and very close to the piers (maybe a 5 minute walk). And the area feels safe, there is no "fenty-leaning" in sight which we were quite worried about. And there's a plethora of restaurants and convenience stores around the hotel. The hotel does offer umbrellas to its guests, which is nice, but they have very limited availability, and SF is quite rainy, so I suggest planning accordingly.
Unfortunately, we were there during the PG&E power outage, so we had no electricity and no hot water for about a day. The hotel tried their best, but honestly, there was nothing they could do to change the awful situation. One of the female staff members' did give us ONE (1) flashlight, which is barely enough... and said that every room can only have one... which I thought was ridiculous, cause how will someone see if their partner/friend/family member needed to use the restroom? And these flashlights were by no means "bright" so... Anyways, the next day, another front desk staff member gave us an extra one, Thank God.
What I found odd was the bathroom. It was spacious, but the space seemed to be underutilized. When you open the shower door, you can't grab your towel easily as it's on the wall BEHIND the massive shower door. Plus, the shower floor felt dented and flimsy, I thought I was honestly going to fall through the floors during my showers, quite scary... And there's this weird, open, square hole in the front portion of the shower glass panel/screen, I'm assuming it's a towel holder (?). But it's honestly such a bad design... as I'm showering, water is splashing all over the toilet seat, and I'm just like... who even thought of this and why???
Anyways, this was an unremarkable stay and would not say this is a 4-star hotel. I'm not too sure why the reviews are so amazing. Everything was just "okay."
