There was no mattress on the pull-out sofa which was a big reason for choosing this place to accommodate all of my family. When told there was no mattress they gave me 3 blankets.

It wasn't bad....The price was best I could find for a hotel in that area. Room was ok, though the carpet was a little dirty. The beds were comfortable. We liked the pool a lot, I didn't check the temp but it was almost too warm, which was nice given how cool it was in san francisco even though we visited in August. This isn't the hotel's fault but there were people coming and going at all hours of the night, which kept waking us up. Overall, it was just a readobably priced place to stay with 4 kids...not sure if I'd want to go back.

Rooms were great, noise was a little high. I was woken up multiple times while wearing earplugs.
Service at check-in was very bad. No acknowledgement rewards club, failed to check ID for credit card, had to be asked how to get to our rooms.
Service in the bar, and at check-out was outstanding.
Valet Elvis was great, very accomodating and knowledgable of the surrounding area. Easily the highlight of customer service this stay.
Overall: not likely to use this location again for SF stays, regardless of proximity to events in the area. I have had much better luck with other BW properties.

We reserved a queen sized bed and were put in a room with a double or full. We had to park and retrieve our own car after $35/day Valet-parking fee. Even then it took forever for the attendant to come out of his little room. The front desk clerk suggested I park somewhere else or call the manager. When I got home I did call and speak to Evelyn (mgr.) and was offered half of my valet fees back. Even though I didn't want to pay a penny for a service that by definition I did not receive, I accepted her offer, apology and assurance that she would personally see to it that I never had a bad experience with her hotel again. After 3-5 business days passed I didn't (and still haven't) seen the refund and have spent 94 minutes on the phone trying to get through to Evelyn (mgr.) When I made my reservations over the phone I was assured it was a nice location but as I was checking in, the front desk clerk was informing everyone to be cautious of the vagrants and homeless people. Wow. Be careful here as the warning was a good one. This is a very sketchy site. Lastly I started a load of wash in the on-site laundry and found out too late that the whole hotel was out of detergent so I was impolitely advised that the staff was very busy and I should walk down 2 alleys and 3 block of skid row to go buy some at the corner store. Needless to say I will be letting everyone I know in on the terrible experience I had at the Best Western Americania Inn. And if it sounds like I am mad, yes, I am mad. I hope this helps you decide not to stay at any of the chain of hotels affiliated with best western.
