  I was very disappointed in the professionalism of management at this place. There are many things that were done well as far as the overall experience goes, but when I had a concern about housekeeping, throwing away a medication of mine, the supervisor was very disrespectful and rude, and I was super surprised by that. For what it’s worth.

  Room size is a little small for garden facing. We got the 2 queen beds. BUT we appreciate the nice fluffy pillows, comfy soft bed and lots of clean towels everyday! Well maintained and clean. Love the tropical feel with wooden ceiling and plantation shutters. And great water pressure with s good shower head is definitely a plus.

  As a young woman on a solo trip, I felt comfortable and would return. It’s right by the docks, so you can see the boats and the water. The middle (tropical) grounds are full of palm trees, the pool, and the koi pond with the resident macaws. The lobby has a small pantry area with food for purchase and plastic utensils available. If you have a rental car, the fee is $25/day and you must use your room card to enter/leave the gated parking. It’s within a half hour drive to get to locations such as La Jolla, Cabrillo National Monument, Coronado Island, downtown, and the airport. The Inn is pretty much a ring of rooms — a first level on the ground floor and a top level on the second floor. I really appreciated the front desk asking which level I preferred. (If traveling solo, I would definitely recommend taking the typical precautions and using the deadbolt and making sure you secure the door, especially given the layout of the Inn). If you get the option, note the second level is only accessible by a small set of stairs if you have heavy bags or trouble climbing. The staff on the grounds was also kind every day and welcoming. A downside is that when entering the room, it was slightly musty. However, I think that is in part because of the humidity in the area and the rooms are outside and not within a centralized building, like a hotel. The refrigerator was also not very cold and I was not able to figure out how to adjust the temperature to feel comfortable keeping leftovers.

  I returned to Humphrey’s on my San Diego weekend trip because it’s literally the best place to stay! The grounds are beautifully maintained and the rooms are large and comfortable. We also dined at the onsite restaurant and it was also amazing. Humphrey’s is the perfect location for peace and relaxation.

  We had the BEST time here! We came for a week to see the city while also trying to relax and get away from it all and Humphrey’s delivered on all fronts. We had a junior suite with views of downtown San Diego and North Island. Plenty of coffee shops, desserts, food and drink within walking distance. Pool and hot tub were excellent as well as a patio area with multiple fire pits. The ambiance was PHENOMENAL & staff so friendly. 100% recommend and will stay here again in the future.
