We stayed in a king with a tropical view. Our room was spacious & clean. Housekeeping did a great job & came every day! We felt our room lacked privacy as we were unable to leave the blinds open without people looking in as they walked by. Pool area & grounds were spacious & beautifully kept. We wished the pool bar had been open as the hotel bar was a walk & it smelled musty. During our stay there was only one person at the front desk & they usually had a line, so it would be helpful to have two during busy times. Could walk to many restaurants & loved hearing the sounds from the nearby naval station!

It was an amazing week! The marina views were incredible. The suite was cleaned each day by wonderful housekeeping staff. We enjoyed the large pool and hot tub and being able to walk to numerous restaurants. Can’t wait to return!

What an amazing experience! We had a fantastic stay at Humphreys Half Moon. The location, cost, and overall experience were all excellent. We stayed in the Grand Marina Suite with an additional room nearby, and it was perfect for our family that was spacious, comfortable, and with beautiful views of the marinafrom the balcony.
The pool and hot tub were open late until 11pm even in December. I had to drive to point loma to find a Ross/TJ Max that carried some shorts for me last minute so i can enjoy the hot tub!
I especially want to call out Maria at the front desk. She greeted us upon arrival and did an amazing job taking care of us, even while juggling a steady stream of guests. She was warm, patient, professional, and truly made us feel welcome.
The property itself is beautiful, the rooms were ideal for a family stay, and the service really stood out. Highly recommend and we would absolutely stay again.

⭐ 1 Star – Very Disappointing Stay
We booked a 4-day / 3-night family trip to San Diego and stayed at Humphreys Half Moon Inn, reserving the Oversized Marina View Suite. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations, especially considering the substantial cost of the stay.
1) Rude front desk interaction during pre check-in
During pre check-in, I informed the front desk gentleman that we had booked the Oversized Marina View Suite, using the exact terminology listed on the hotel’s website (see image attached). He rudely scolded me and said, “We don’t use that name. It’s just Marina View Suite.” His tone made me feel like I had done something wrong, even though I was simply repeating the hotel’s own wording. It was unprofessional and unnecessary.
2) Housekeeping never serviced our room
The next morning at 8:00 a.m., I called the front desk to ask whether rooms are automatically serviced or if a request was required. I was told that housekeeping services rooms automatically unless the “Do Not Disturb” sign is displayed. I clearly stated we were leaving the room for most of the day so housekeeping could service it.
After being gone for approximately 9 hours, we returned to find that our room had not been serviced at all. When I called the front desk, I was told housekeeping had already left for the day. I was promised clean towels, an explanation for why the room wasn’t serviced, and a callback.
None of those things ever happened—no towels and no follow-up call.
3) Blood stains on bed sheets
On our final night, after a long day out, I pulled back the covers to relax and found blood stains on the bed sheet. I had to call the front desk yet again, and someone was sent to change the sheets. While they did replace them, this should never happen at a hotel charging premium rates.
Between the rude front desk interaction, lack of housekeeping, broken promises, and unsanitary bedding, the stay was extremely disappointing. We paid a significant amount for lodging, fees, and parking, and the level of service and care did not come close to matching the price.
This was not the quality or hospitality we expected, and I would not recommend this property based on our experience.

Last night ordered an appetizer from the restaurant that we earned because we posted our vacation plans on social media. We said we’d come back in an hour but when we came back they said “Sorry, we we ran out of shrimp and couldn’t call you.” because they didn’t take our info. Then today, the maid threw away half of our pizza that we had to get for dinner because of the appetizer situation it was sitting out on the counter and she took the liberty to throw it away (we were going to eat it for lunch). They offered a $20 credit but it’s extremely inconvenience to try to figure out somewhere to get food on the island that is under 20 bucks for two people hence why we had the pizza for that. Also, We rented a bike but the bicycle grease got all over my husband’s pants and now they are ruined and nowhere to try to clean them. Also, when the maid came in our room, she left an electrical ground from a plug in the outlet and if you had a kid that would be a shock hazard. It’s a nice place but honestly, it’s a little things that matter, and these are big deals to us which happens and ruined the trip
