One of the worst IHG properties I have stayed at. First off, let me start off with the things that I did appreciate so we’re not all negative. Rooms were nice and big bathroom was good size with a decent size shower. Lobby area was well decorated and looks nice. Housekeeping did a good job so room was clean. Now to the bad. Wi-Fi was pretty much nonexistent and since you’re pressed up against the side of a hill, good luck getting cellular. Mattress on the bed was broken down and you were sleeping in a rut. I would’ve switched to the other side of the bed, but there’s not even a lamp on that nightstand. Oh I don’t think you’ll get a nice hot water shower cause it’s barely lukewarm if you’re lucky after running it for five minutes. King size bed seem to have a California king size mattress protector on it so every time you move around the mattress protector just slides, and bunches up underneath you. I mentioned the nonexistent Wi-Fi to the front desk and they said yeah, people been saying that. Pool was nasty (see pics) and hot tub was broken the entire five days I was there with no signs of work being done. Breakfast was about as minimal as they could get away with under IHG standards. I travel to San Diego often, but this was the first and last time I’ll stay at this property.

Very typical HIE property with mostly enthusiastic staff. Only let down was slightly difficult location in close proximity to lower cost options. Nice to see decafe coffee in the reception area ground bean machines. Nice touch. Location is an easy 20 minute walk to the nearby Fashion Valley mall and 45 minutes uphill to the somewhat trendy Hillcrest area. Neither walk is suitable at night.

The hotel is located near the old town and has a great deal of amenities. The free breakfast has a great selection of items and is run quite well. They have a pool and a hot tub which is quite nice as well. You have to pay 24$ nightly for parking. The room looks new and has a microwave and fridge. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the sound overall. We got a room which also had a connector room and somehow all the days we were there, the other room was also occupied and the sound from there travelled quite well into our room, making it difficult to sleep at night.

I finally had a work trip where my family could tag along. Fun! Little mini vacation! I asked my 5 year old what she wanted, and she knew immediately: JACUZZI! Cool. Easy, find an IHG hotel with a jacuzzi. No problem. I searched the regular sites, and found this one is listed as having SIX jacuzzis. Wow! So I called to verify, because that seems...unlikely, right? I called to verify the 6 jacuzzis, and...no one answered. So I called back a few minutes later. No answer. I literally called 4 times over 2 hours before someone finally answered. They helpfully clarified "ah, there is 1 public jacuzzi, but 5 jacuzzi suites." Ah, fair enough. No problem. When we arrived... We checked in... Then my 5-year old runs to check out the pool, and we discover... The jacuzzi is closed. It's down for maintenance, and obviously has been for some time. So I go back to the front desk, and say "Hey, the jacuzzi is closed?" And the two guys say "Oh yes sir, sorry about that." And I said "But I literally called you four hours ago...and asked about the jacuzzi. Why didn't you tell me on the phone that the jacuzzi I'm coming for is closed? I could have gone to a different hotel." They had no answer. However, one of them said "Let me talk to the manager, and see if there is a way to get it repaired quickly or something." Long shot. But also...what else can the front desk person say at this point? At least let the manager know that something has gone awry. 20 minutes later, I go back to the front desk attendant, and asked "Hey any luck on repairing the jacuzzi?" He looked at me blankly, and said "oh, my boss is in a meeting. It will be a long meeting." Do you think that manager ever followed up with me? "Hey, sorry about that, we should have handled that differently," or anything like that? Nope. Nothing. Do you think that front desk attendant ever followed up with me, "Hey, I spoke with my manager, and no luck on the jacuzzi. Sorry about that." Nope. We wound up in the (heated) pool on a cold-ish afternoon. It was still fun. Sure. But I'm most angry that no one here could just talk to me like a person, and say normal, easy-to-say stuff. They said one thing (I'll ask my manager) and then just forgot about me. I called and ask about one feature of the hotel...and they couldn't tell me "that thing doesn't actually work the night of your stay." Again, and again. I'm a person who came to their hotel, and they just didn't care. They couldn't even APOLOGIZE. Other smaller things: The toilet doesn't flush properly, the sink doesn't drain properly, the USB ports by the bed don't work, and neither does the desk lamp. But those things? Those are not a huge deal. I stay at IHG hotels to avoid nonsense like this. I don't know if it's a franchise, or corporate, or what, but I'm not coming back. I will never, ever, ever be back.
