A bit sad writing this review. In summary, it's my opinion that this hotel is more interested in profits than customer experience. Wifi was mostly reliable and reasonably fast (premium wifi). The restaurant staff is average, no complaints. Like most hotel restaurants, overtasked. They care and want to help. I've had many breakfasts and dinners. Food is average as well. Nothing special but also nothing to complain about. If you have the full buffet, I suggest getting made to order eggs, those were very good. Parking was manageable. Spots are small, but you can fit your car, but need to be careful entering and exiting the car. Gates are a bit slow, but worked reliably. You nees to display a permit (no biggie) even though your in a room key card controlled area. Room cleaning was sub-par. Took them days to restock water, they missed restocking coffee multiple times, they missed restocking wash cloths, and didn't replace the ice bag consistently. They also never removed (or called restaurant to have removed) the glasses and utensils from the room. I eventually just took a bunch to the table by the elevator. Check in staff didn't give me breakfast vouchers, pre-purchased in the room rate, for the full week. Instead they said come back for more later?? Most hotels have these ready to go before arrival. The rooms are semi-updated. The TV is newer, shower is great - better than most, room size is average, maybe even slightly bigger than average. Bed and couch are decent. The reason for the 2 rating on the rooms - are: AC struggled big time. I had to leave the AC on 65 and fan on full. Outdoor temps were 70s and low 80s (high), so I can't imagine this in summer. My windows had giant taped over cracks and my hillside view had a trash and recycling bin storage field at the bottom. The pool area is small but functional. Nice full sun in the early afternoon with seating and umbrellas. Unfortunately same story as rest of the hotel, seems like profit over experience when I see many tiles fallen off on the pool and hot tub side walls. There is an unfortunate pattern of what appears to be short term decisions creating "technical debt" that build over time. Sadly many hotel chains quality are quickly degradating, Hilton isn't better or worse than other major brands, in my experience.

This Hotel Is Awesome From when My husband checked in, John took care of everything from start to finish. He made the entire process smooth and easy, and truly made our stay worry-free. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail really stood out and set the tone for a wonderful visit. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The rooms are well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. Because of the excellent service — especially from John — we would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Diego!

This hotel is so below par. Don’t bother. Front desk service is slow. Painfully slow. Parking is a nightmare. Room cards don’t work. Two elevators were broken. No coffee available except to purchase. They failed to bring us coffee when asked. This place just sucks. It’s embarrassing as a Gold member that it’s so bad. Don’t bother coming here.

I travel to San Diego for work every 3-5 weeks, and when I do, I stay at the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley because of the great people there, the clean rooms and the convenient location. The Workers there, especially Gaby, Erika and John, are incredibly friendly and personable. They are always there and they make it a point to greet you and make you feel very welcomed. I have noticed that they recognize many guests and call them by name before they even check in. This is a sign that they care, and that they are paying attention to the people that are staying there. Anytime I have experienced an issue with my room - which is very rare - it has been addressed almost instantaneously. To have this type of good people and service at a hotel is rare in this day and age. The location is also very convenient to restaurants and shopping. You can get downtown or to the airport by car within 10 minutes. HSDMV has great people, is clean, super convenient and overall just a great place to stay while in San Diego!
