We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn San Diego Old Town. For us, this was a stay cation for Christmas Eve. We were planning on walking to eat at one of the Old Town restaurants, but found they all closed early Christmas Eve. We were pleasantly surprised to find some good food at the restaurant inside the hotel. We ate there for both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant looks simple, but they deliver some quality food from their kitchen.

My husband stayed here a few times and I joined him twice since 2023. Most recent stay early Dec 2025. Would we stay again? No, we wouldn't. Pros: great location, hot tub and restaurant/bar on site. The verde restaurant staff is top notch.. The rooms are also a good size. Cons: Young woman at front desk very rude (and sadly always there), no hotel water available except to purchase, Snack bar is junk food. Rooms don't have a USB port by the beds. If you are a Hilton Honors member (silver or gold) they do not care. They also won't remember you if you come often. If the front desk staff was nice it would make up for alot. The male at the desk was super nice but the primary female front desk is very rude. We were surprised.

Great hotel and fantastic atmosphere here. It’s a nice hotel with a good location, but people make the difference: Shout out to Nancy (breakfast server) and Edgar (bartender) who both provided exceptional and friendly service.

The AC is very loud. The shower floor is slippery. The outlet on the nightstand doesn’t have power. I reported the issues. They promised to send technician to fix them. During the day they claimed the issues had been fixed. But later we found all issues persisted. Since it was our last night, I didn’t bother to request a new room. The experience of the stay was awful. They should have agreed to provided a new room in the first place when I reported.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, but I was disappointed with several aspects of my stay.
The parking lot was very crowded, yet there was an extra charge, which I felt was unreasonable. Furthermore, the hotel did not offer complimentary breakfast, which was surprising for a hotel of this level.
While the hotel provided washing machines, the lack of coin exchange was inconvenient. I strongly recommend upgrading to washing machines that accept credit cards or contactless payments, as most guests are now accustomed to using credit cards rather than carrying coins.
As a Diamond member, I had higher expectations for the overall convenience and stay experience. Unfortunately, this stay did not fully meet my expectations.
I hope the hotel will consider my feedback and incorporate it into future improvements.
Thank you.
