My family and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a great experience. From the moment we arrived the friendly staff helped with getting us checked in and holding our luggage while we waited for a room. They have free coffee in the lobby and free cookies in the evening. The rooms aren’t super modern but if you’re exploring the city you’re barely in the room anyway. They also have a nice fridge with some snacks in the room (not sure if this is only for diamond members). I was pleasantly surprised by the snacks because we have a toddler that needs plenty of snacks and it definitely made it easier on us. Free breakfast in the mornings has everything you need, fruits, oatmeal, cereal, waffles, eggs, sausages or bacon, and potatoes. Really good location close to little Italy and if you have kids, there’s a park right across the street. Close to bus stops as well. They are doing some renovations so you can hear it sometimes and they’re next to a train station, so that’s something to consider because we did have a lot of noise even at night. Overall a great convenient hotel with a really friendly and helpful staff.

Enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was good, the size and cleanliness of the room was great, and the location was convenient, even for non car drivers like me. And the customer service was outstanding. FYI: the hotel is updating its elevators. Downtown SD unfortunately has a number of houseless folks but they are relatively harmless (just treat them with respect), so keep that in mind for the locale. Not sure why another reviewer would claim the train sounds were loud. Most of the outside noise was from cars and planes.

Don’t stay here if you want to sleep! There is light rail train stop right behind the hotel and you hear the street gates and train horn all night and day! It’s ridiculous!

The rooms are fine typical Hampton Inn. There was some person working for the hotel with an iPad and when we asked where the elevators were and she walked away. I tried looking and couldn’t find them. Then I said excuse me ma’am - where is the elevator?’ Then with extreme attitude she pointed like it was an inconvenience for her to point me there. Very disappointing service
