  Upon arrival, I wasn't sure what to expect. The Best Western Seven Seas has a resort vibe to it. Though the rooms are smaller, the cleanliness is maintained well. The Seven Seas restaurant and bar are hidden gems filled with friendly patrons and guests. The location is ideal, as you're close to everything San Diego has to offer. You absolutely must take a tour with the Old Town Trolley Tour which is only 5 min from the hotel, and the starting point of the tour. There's also a heated pool and gym on the hotel site. FREE PARKING!!!Excellent hotel for the price!

  We reserved a room. We paid for a room. When we showed up at 4 pm (the check in time) they told us the room wasn’t ready. They made us wait an hour telling us the rooms are first come first serve. The front desk staff should be educated on the differences between first come first serve and a reserved room. The room was already paid for. The staff had disgusting attitudes about the inability to provide the room that was paid for and promised. Best western or its employees offered no solution, resolution or compensation. When we asked if we could check out an hour later they told us to ask in the morning. Room was gross. Strong smell of old urine outside the bathroom. weird stains on the carpet and walls. Outlets don’t work. At 9 pm a large crowd of drunk obnoxious people were at the pool blaring music 10 feet away from our door. I called the front and asked if they could have the music turned down. The front desk did not care and refused to do anything. They said the pool area would close at 10 and I had to deal with it. The security did not close the pool till 1030 and allowed people screaming and music to be blared until that time. Property seems to be run by high schoolers.

  The location is great, parking is free compared to some of the other hotels there, and the rooms were adequate. My issues: The shower in my room was terrible. Since we stayed only one night I didn't bother to complain about it directly because we were basically passing through and the price for that day was reasonable. The Problem: the shower head did not provide warm/hot water at all. It did come out through the lower spout but when the water was switched to the shower head the water went to cold and would not warm up like it was doing on the lower spout/faucet. This was extremely unsettling, especially since my father is in his late 60's and has difficulty moving which made the experience even worse. This experience has given me pause for making future reservations to this Best Western.

  Absolutely horrible experience. We stayed here for one night and thank God it wasn’t any longer. We checked in a little later in the night and a soon as i walk into the bathroom there is a MASSIVE silver fish squirming around in there. Disgusting, so we call the front desk and let them know and they sounded very annoyed by the situation but offered to switch us rooms. We get into the new room and guess what! ANOTHER BUG!!! Another little critter running around in the bathroom. At this point it’s late in the night but i call the front desk again and they were like well idk what to tell you. I told them that at this point it was late in the night and we aren’t switching rooms again but this is disappointing and disgusting. The beds? You’re better off sleeping in your car or on the floor. Very very uncomfortable. The room doesn’t come with a microwave or a coffee machine. In 2026 that seems absurd. There is no free breakfast, they have water in the room but you gotta fork over $3.50 for it! Overall just a horrible experience and for $100+ a night you are much better off staying at one of the plenty of other hotels in the area.

  This place use to be my favorite destination to book while visiting San Diego. Not anymore because of all the recent modifications that they have done to the parking lot which I think was totally unnecessary. It was a horrible idea to gut all the available parking spaces to put random curbs which are a disservice to guest who want to park near their room. The new painted areas give motel 6 vibes. The only thing that needed to be done to enhance the building was re pave the entire road laced with cracks pot holes and bumps Then paint fresh new parking lines. Adding a bunch of curbs to old outdated hazardous roads seems counterproductive. There is no street parking outside this building so decreasing spaces for meaningless curb islands was unnecessary. Rooms need a microwave and coffee maker. The entire staff is amazing despite my other disheartening discrepancies with this place.
