We hosted a group block with high school students this past weekend. The students spoke highly of the rooms, mentioning that they were spacious and comfortable. The hotel representatives were very polite and kind to our group. Thank you for hosting us.

The overall hotel feel was fine. Typical Best Western. So why the 1-star review? German roaches. Found one in our bathroom first night and one on the wall near the breakfast the following morning. Caught it in a napkin and took it to the front desk, and we were offered to switch rooms. Almost like they knew about the problem. I get that roaches are everywhere but crawling on the wall in daylight in a crowded room is strong indicator of an infestation. They are knowingly infesting guests bags and clothes by not better dealing with it.
This isn’t a slight on the front desk. All agents were terrific in empathy and service, but what can they do?
I’m almost certain I’ll have to deal with roach eradication when I get home now. Had I known this I would have paid almost anything more to avoid this headache.

I had a very frustrating experience with Best Western. During the reservation process, there was no clear check-in time provided, which made planning difficult. Because of that, we arrived earlier in the day not fully aware of when check-in would begin.
Later, we found out that check-in was at 4:00 PM. However, when we returned at 4:00 PM—the official check-in time—we were told that our room was still not ready, even though we had booked a specific room in advance.
Instead of properly accommodating us, we were told we could get a different room right away, but only if we paid an additional $46. On top of that, we were also charged $26 for parking within the hotel facilities, which felt like another unexpected fee that was not clearly communicated beforehand.
Overall, the lack of communication, poor organization, and added costs made this a very disappointing experience. As guests, we expected our reserved room to be ready at check-in time and for all policies and fees to be clearly explained upfront.
I would not recommend staying here based on my experience.

I showed up early with my family was able to check in early of course for a charge but that’s fine the lady at the front desk was very helpful and kind. We asked if the room had a microwave to warm up food and my daughter’s bottle got told unfortunately no which is no big deal the lobby has one and we would’ve used that. About an hour or so into our stay we had maintenance worker knock on the door and drop off a microwave for us to use said there was a request for one when we never requested one so it surprised us the employees have gone above and beyond and I’m sure we aren’t the only ones that have experienced this exceptional service. My family and I have stayed at best westerns before and have always had a great experience this is why I continue to choose to stay at their hotels. I will be updating my review once I’ve learned the names of the great employees I met today.

Our room was okay, nothing special but exactly what we needed. We loved having a suite with a door for the extra “room” so we could put our little one to bed early without going to bed ourselves. The room was clearly not vacuumed when we got there (lots of crumbs and debris on the floor - we really just noticed because we have an infant that’s crawling) but it was taken care of. We got a really good rate on Groupon, so definitely worth what we paid for it.
Location was great. Within 10-15 minutes to everything in San Diego. Easy freeway access.
The service was the real star. We had 3 ladies at the front desk who were above and beyond kind to us. One moved us to a suite because we had a baby. We asked about extending a night, and another lady moved around other reservations to keep us in the same room. And a third lady made the whole transition super smooth. If I could give them 10 stars out of 5, I would. I generally don’t leave reviews, but they were so incredibly kind to us that I felt like I needed to. Honestly we’d go back just because of them!
