Overall rating due to the condition of the rooms carpet is 2.5.
Room 523 overlooked the rooftop with ventilation units and a large lighted billboard.
The carpets were ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING with several VERY LARGE water or ? stains throughout our room’s carpeted area. Of all the many places I have stayed I have NEVER stayed in a room with carpets in this poor of condition.

Rooms are old and the decor is outdated. The cleaning lady white female that worked the 5th floor and didn’t clean my room#514 from 11/13-14 thank you for not doing your job. I got my room clean my last day by some Hispanic lady. I helped because I just wanted the basics. Towels, trash taken out and toilet paper refill. Thank you for the front desk because when I called them to tell them my room didn’t get cleaned nothing was done twice. I know it was the same white female because I saw her face twice when I was leaving for 4 hours to give them time to clean. This Holiday Inn has gotten worse every year I’ve come here. The quality is like staying at a motel 6 because they definitely leave the light on because the roaches might come out. The $29 breakfast buffet is a joke.

I stayed two nights in early October, and the experience was very disappointing. Upon arrival, I called the front desk because I couldn’t connect to the WiFi and the TV wasn’t working. I was told they were “in between providers” and that the internet would be spotty.
My room had multiple issues: the thermostat was broken and couldn’t regulate temperature, and the window unit made loud noises all night. The bathroom grout was dirty, and the overall cleanliness was subpar. I requested a room change but was denied. I ended up walking on towels in the bathroom, using nearby WiFi just to work, and had only three fuzzy TV channels. The temperature was so uncomfortable I had to shower in the middle of the night just to cool off.
After four complaints during my stay went nowhere, I emailed the hotel afterward. Fettah Aydin responded, apologized, and offered 25,000 IHG points as compensation. However, three weeks passed and the points never arrived. When I called IHG directly, the hotel told IHG that I never complained and they never offered me points. Only after providing proof , videos , photos — including the email from Fettah— did IHG step in and credit the points.
I would strongly recommend avoiding this property. It’s poorly maintained and the staff handled my situation unprofessionally, denying any complaints. IHG members deserve much better.

This hotel is definitely in rough shape... my husband and I decided to stay here during our wedding night and we had several not so great experiences.
Our hotel room was downgraded without us knowing prior to check in. The elevators in the hotel are very slow and creaky, plus the permit is not listed on display which is concerning.
On top of that, the hotel room lacked basic amenities (such as a mini fridge) and modle and water damage was all throughout the room. It was very lack luster for the price point.
Additionally, the parking is more expensive than what is listed on the hotel website and the IHG app. It made for a very large unexpected charge.
I definitely will be looking for other options if I ever need to stay in downtown sacramento again.
