We came to Montreal yesterday late at night yesterday from a drive from Toronto. We were tired and were just waiting to get in a bed. We checked in and were in awe of the rooms. They had luxurious beds, a clean bathroom, high rise ceilings with all the things you would ever need for a stay. They even provide free hygienic products for if you’ve forgotten. Even if they charge an extra $40-$50, trust me when I say it’s very much worth it. The breakfast was phenomenal compared to many hotels with 5 stars. The next time I come to Montreal, I will look no further but this hotel.
Poor service, unclean room, no bed sheets, and management makes excuses – avoid this hotel
Dates stayed: May 12–15, 2026
I chose this Holiday Inn partly because they told me it is a no‑pet hotel – I have a serious pet allergy. On the day we checked in (May 12), I saw a guest come out of the elevator with a golden retriever and linger in the lobby for several minutes. No staff member said anything. The receptionist simply ignored it. That completely undermines any trust in their pet policy.
Coffee issue: The hotel advertises 24‑hour coffee. Over our stay, we went to get coffee 7 times. Each time, either there was no coffee, no creamer, or both. We had to wait a long time to find a staff member and then wait again for them to refill. Something as simple as coffee should not be this difficult.
Room cleanliness – second night:
No bath towels, no napkins.
Floor not vacuumed.
Hair in the vanity.
No bed sheets: Around 11:15 PM when we went to bed, we discovered there were no bed sheets – only a comforter. We went to the front desk and waited 25 minutes. The staff member told us: “You have to do your bed sheets yourself – we only have one staff working.” We made the bed ourselves after midnight and could not fall asleep until after 2 AM. This is completely unacceptable for any hotel.
Checkout day harassment: Checkout time is 11 AM. Housekeeping knocked and entered our room at 9:12 AM while we were still sleeping. Then again at 10:54 AM – just 6 minutes before checkout. We felt rushed and harassed for no reason. Housekeeping can be done after guests leave.
Manager’s response: When my husband raised these concerns to the hotel manager, she repeatedly said: “We are not a full service hotel.” She said this three times. No apology. No acknowledgment. No offer to fix anything.
I understand that limited‑service hotels exist, but basic cleanliness, providing bed sheets, having coffee available, and respecting checkout time are minimum standards – not “full service” extras. This stay was exhausting, disrespectful, and stressful. I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The room was the highlight: comfortable beds, everything very clean, a good TV, and overall everything was as expected.
Breakfast was the weakest point considering the hotel’s price and category. The eggs felt industrial, there was no bacon or ham, no cheese, and no vegetables at all. There was also very limited fruit variety—only bananas, apples, and oranges, and they weren’t even cut, just whole. The options for children were also very limited. In general, nothing really went together—it felt like having a puzzle with missing pieces; with what was available, you couldn’t put together a complete meal. For what we paid for the stay, it was well below expectations.
As for the pool, it was closed for maintenance, and we were not informed at check-in, which I believe would have been the least courteous thing to do.
