We stayed at the Langham for a special birthday. There was a minor problem with the elevators, otherwise, our stay was wonderfully memorable. The restaurant had delicious food and great service. I must mention two outstanding people. Mario Leal-Cruz Jr, and Antonio at the restaurant. They both went above and beyond. Thank you for a fabulous weekend.

The afternoon tea was okay. Sweets better than the savory. Teas flavorless. Service good. There are better places for afternoon tea.

Very disappointed. We went to their bar/lounge for the evening and they were very understaffed and so customers were not taken care of properly. And they charge a lot of money for awful service. I won't go in to all of the details, but everything took forever because our very nice server was overworked. That's should not happen and reflects poorly on management. They should have more staff than needed to make sure customers are taken care of if they're going to charge as much as they do.
We walked outside to look at the grounds, and when we looked up we were shocked to see a VERY torn and tattered flag flying above the hotel. I googled it because I assumed it was very disrespectful to fly an American flag in that condition and sure enough, this is what I found, "Flying a torn or tattered American flag is considered disrespectful according to the U.S. Flag Code, though it's not illegal it is seen as dishonoring the nation and the military."
While paying at the valet, a customer walked up and politely asked if they'd take his small plastic water bottle and throw it away, but the valet worker said, "there's a trash can behind you somewhere" and sent him on his way. Since when do you say no to customers, especially at an overpriced hotel like the Langham?! I realize that customer service is hard to find now a days, but I expect it when they're considered a high end hotel and we pay for good customer service. The entire experience was bad customer service, high prices, and a very disrespectful flag flying. This will be the last time we'll go there.

The only thing 5 star about this property are the prices. They charge a fortune but don't even have soap in the rooms. Cheap shower gel from China is all you get. The staff is rude and incompetent. The property was once a beautiful place, with great service and management. No more. Across the board, in every respect, the worst hotel we have stayed at in the last 20 years.
Bad experiences on last stay too numerous to list. My only comment is to STAY AWAY!

We are longtime Pasadena locals and have been coming to The Langham for years. We have many traditions that bring us here multiple times a year, which is why it has been so disappointing to see the service and experience decline visit after visit. Unfortunately our most recent visit was by far the worst and has made us seriously reconsider returning.
We ordered one round of drinks and a single appetizer, about as simple and low maintenance as an order gets. Yet from the start everything went wrong. Our table was still dirty from the previous guests and no one bothered to clean it before seating us. I then watched our martinis sit on the bar for more than twenty minutes before anyone brought them over. Our food actually arrived before our drinks, which should never happen at a luxury hotel. Our drinks were no longer cold since they had been sitting for so long.
At one point we wanted to order another round but our server disappeared for over thirty minutes. I asked another server walking by if we could close out, he said “sure” then completely ignored the request. I finally had to get up and find a manager just to pay our bill so we could leave.
For a hotel that brands itself as a luxury property and charges luxury prices, this level of service is completely unacceptable. We’ve loved The Langham for years, but experiences like this make it very hard to justify coming back.
