I had an extremely disappointing experience at the InterContinental Hotel during a recent business trip. Before leaving my room, I clearly placed the "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door. When I returned, housekeeping had entered my room anyway. To make matters worse, the sign had been removed from the door and neatly placed on the desk inside the room. I was traveling solo for work and had sensitive business documents spread out on the desk. Housekeeping moved my belongings around, creating significant stress and concern regarding the privacy and security of my work materials. What made the situation even more upsetting was the hotel's response. Rather than acknowledging my concerns or investigating how the sign ended up inside the room, I was essentially told that the sign had never been on the door. I felt as though I was being called a liar despite the fact that the sign was found inside my room after housekeeping entered. The hotel offered no meaningful explanation, apology, compensation, or resolution. The lack of accountability and disregard for guest privacy was deeply disappointing. To make matters worse, I sent emails to the hotel regarding this incident and my concerns were ignored. I expect a hotel of this caliber to respect a clearly displayed Do Not Disturb sign and to take guest concerns seriously when mistakes occur. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below those expectations.

Paul at the Ambassador desk saw I was milling about the front desk trying to figure out which Front Desk person would be helping me check in. He observed me in my quandary and walked right over to let me know he could check me in at the sit down Ambassadordesk, which was greatlyappreciatedafter a day of travel. He didn't know I was a IHG ONE REWARDS Diamond Elite member. But he recognized me from my reservation and was very helpful, Customer Service oriented , friendly and exhibited a genuinely warm welcome to the property. I think whether I was Diamond Elite or not, Paul's hospitality would be provided as well. I had access to the Club Lounge and he explained the amenities therein. Thank you Paul for the Welcome to our famiky vacation! Wow! What a wonderfully Grand Hotel in the center of all the action in Downtown Toronto

The Intercontinental is my go-to hotel in Toronto. The service upon check in to check out is top notch. David is one of the best people you can have to take care of you at check-in; he gives you many tips, ideas for experiences, and even shares his own experiences (you can't get better). Even more important- when you come back, he greets you with the same welcoming smile. I truly appreciate him (cheers!). Onto the rooms: absolutely fabulous: they are clean, the beds and pillows are very comfortable, there is space to work if you have to (with hi-speed wifi), and chairs for relaxation. Also, the windows are floor to ceiling and views tend to be nice because of the location (near everything). Additionally, the hotel has Club offerings, gym, spa, restaurant, and room service - while I haven't used these services when I have the time in future visits, I will. I highly recommend considering (and booking) the Intercontinental.

They charge a $25 service fee for some services that are already listed as included in the booking, and it includes 2 bottles of water you can get from Dollarama. We asked for more water at the front desk and they acted like it asking for gold, a bottle of water. The hot tub was out of order and the outdoor terrace was closed for renovations, even though we could see it from our room and it was setup and no work was being done. The staff on the club floor seemed unaware of the closure as they directed us to go enjoy it. I feel since the listed amenities were not available they should not be charging a fake $25 fee for other services already paid for.

I would like to recognize Paul at the front desk for providing truly outstanding customer service. From the moment we arrived, Paul noticed us from quite a distance away and immediately welcomed us with a genuine smile and warm greeting. His friendliness, professionalism, and attention to detail made us feel valued and appreciated before we even reached the desk. Paul was beyond cordial throughout our interaction. He was personable, engaging, and went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable and well taken care of. In an industry where first impressions matter, Paul set the tone for an exceptional stay. Thank you, Paul, for your outstanding hospitality and for making our experience such a positive one. You are a tremendous asset to the hotel, and your dedication to guest service does not go unnoticed.
