  Convenient down town location. Numerous excellent restaurants nearby. I have stayed here more than 10 occasions, usually when passing through.

  Bed bugs, stained mattress, smashed in wall by the door, absent manager. We stayed here for a night on June 22nd and had several severe issues. Upon arriving to our room we found that a massive gouge was taken out of the wall of our initial room (room 300). We went down to talk to staff who let us know that management was already aware of the state of the room, and we would not be billed for the damages. When we went to lay down that night my wife found a bed bug in the bed. After stripping the bed to the mattress, we found several more bugs and a massive stain. We came down straight to the staff who apologized profusely and got us sorted into an adjacent room. They advised us to speak to the manager in the morning. When the morning came, the manager was nowhere to be found by staff. The regular staff apologized for our stay, promised us a full refund in IHG points (never received), as well as bonus points. AVOID THIS PLACE.

  Clean rooms, pool hot tub and sauna were great. Breakfast was basic, plenty of parking with no additional cost and staff were very helpful. Located a short walk to the boardwalk and waterfront and main street.

  I want to express my gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Holiday Inn Express in Sault Ste Marie! Especially, a huge shout out to Chris who works the night shift there! My family and I decided that we wanted to do a road trip to Toronto — never again! We did not think it would be this difficult, but we are a flying family and our overconfidence got us here hahaha, but NEVER in a million years would I think fog would become my #1worst enemy. It took us WAY LONGER than expected to drive because of the yellow advisory warning for the fog, WHICH we did NOT receive. My sister ended up finding out through googling the weather forecast in the area the next day. When driving, I could barely see the road and I was thinking, "Is this normal?" It got so late and I was driving so slow because I could not see a single thing in front of me and the moose those damn moose! THE MEESES! My data cut off and my sister had to stop streaming and vlogging. It got to a point where it was so dark. We were so scared, but what was even worse is that the service from the hotel we were originally going to stay at was so disgusting and disrespectful. I had no back up places to even go to because we planned this one hotel (which has since apologized so name redacted). We were desperately trying to find a hotel and I came across the Holiday Inn. Just randomly going through a list of hotels in the area. The Holiday Inn Express Sault Ste Marie was this beacon of light in the thick fog. Chris was so kind when I rang him to ask if we can check in for May 25th at like 2:30am. The buck ass early morning and this man sounded so happy to have us. When we arrived he was filled with amazing energy and positivity. The exact qualities you need in someone working the graveyard shift. His positivity radiated and seeped into us. It changed our whole experience and made our incredibly short stay the highlight of our entire trip. I highly suggest to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Sault Ste Marie. The rooms were clean, the continental breakfast was amazing and inclusive of dietary restrictions. I have celiacs and I am lactose intolerant, so I had all of my food packed and ready to go. It was so lovely to see options that I could actually eat and tasted amazing! Even after staying in Toronto, in a Holiday Inn as well, I have to say my favourite stay was at Sault Ste Marie. Even my parents keep talking about it, Chris and how the service was just perfect. If I were to choose between staying in Toronto or Sault Ste Marie for even a night, I would choose the Sault Ste Marie. My experience here changed a lot because we had already gone through such a huge low with the driving conditions and the way that our first hotel treated us like we were pariahs, but Chris at the Holiday Inn just has this energetically radiant, inviting and very authentic aura. Love the fact that he loves Dr. Who and expresses that with the ACTUALLY MOVIE PROP! LOVE IT! We were talking about it because we also love Dr. Who. Also! Heard great news staying here! LIKE REALLY GREAT NEWS! The morning we woke up, had a great breakfast, packed up my jeep, and my family was feeling all positive. Then I get this phone call! Omgoooosh! This place is good luck! lol AND I CAN ATTEST TO IT!
