My husband and I stayed here on June 14th. The room (208) was clean, the beds were comfortable. There is a restaurant with the hotel but we only had breakfast which had the usual scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, etc. which hubby enjoyed. I was happy to find fresh berries to add to my Bran flakes. I had asked for a view of the river and I may have had to pay extra. We had a small view with a balcony at ground level. I had wanted a room on a higher floor, but we were tired anyway and it was raining, so it didn't matter. I also asked for a safety bar in the tub/shower but it was only at the far end by the taps. In the middle would be safer. One strange thing was that the towel rack was IN the tub/shower which meant there was no where to hang a dry towel when getting out. (You can see it in one of my pictures). We had to set the towel on the toilet seat. Overall a nice stay but next time I'd want a different room.

The service is great. The location is excellent and the rooms are a good size. This is an older property. It is clean. It is well managed. The location is great. It is near downtown, so it is urban, but the location is great and Peterborough is a lovely small town. The river view was fantastic!

You get what you pay for has never rang so true as my experience at this hotel. It’s old, run down and in need of a complete rebuild. It’s a classic “lipstick on a pig” update job where if you look closely, everything is beat up and worn out. When checking in, we were told they upgraded us from a pool view room that “smelled like chlorine” to the other end the hotel. That comment didn’t inspire much confidence. We ended up getting a room next to the exterior entrance and got to listen to the outside door slam closed and shake our wall a thousand times throughout the night. Extremely annoying. Every time we dealt with staff it was a disorganized mess. They clearly had no idea what to do. Some couldn’t even speak coherent english. We first attempted to eat on the patio. After waiting 30 minutes without service we gave up and went inside to a dark restaurant. Service was non existent there too, despite being empty. They took our order, dropped off the food and never came back. We saw lots of staff, but they all seemed to be wandering around aimlessly. We were the only customers in the entire restaurant on a Friday evening in June. Really tells you something. Oh and the food tasted like a microwaved dinner. Breakfast was again a confusing mess. No staff to be found, food all over the floors, stains on the plates and cups. Over half of the tables in the restaurant were empty but hadn’t been cleared. The food was stone cold. My chair had some sort of sticky juice all over it. The coffee station was on a table that looked like it was about to fall over. Moving into the rest of the hotel, the hallway walls were very beat up. Holes in the drywall, rips in the wall paper. The elevator a mile away from the lobby. Our room was full of old metal furniture that looked like it’s from the 1970’s. I haven’t seen that stuff in a hotel in 20 years. The door to our room would only unlock when it felt like it which was super frustrating standing in the hall scanning the card over and over. Inside the room there was a large crack in the ceiling drywall. Whoever did the latest caulking job in the bathroom got it all over the walls. Paint was peeling from the ceiling. The wallpaper was stained. There was an open hole around the bathroom electrical outlet cover. Sound kept cutting out on the TV. The TV remote fell apart into multiple pieces when we picked it up. The smoke detector was falling off the ceiling. The list goes on and on and on. The only possible benefit to this establishment was that it is downtown on the river but that quickly evaporated too when a homeless guy drinking a beer started harassing us as we got out of the car in the parking lot. We were scheduled to stay two nights and left after one. IHG should be ashamed of being affiliated with this joke. It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed somewhere that failed on literally every level.

They had very little hot water. I had a Luke room shower. They said they had a bucng of guests using it. It was a struggle to get the plug ins to hold the chargers. They were falling out. My expectations were higher for this hotel. The beds look comfy. Looks like there are lots of homeless in the area. Next stay might have to be somewhere else.

Jessica who worked at the bar and restaurant had an outstanding personable energy. I instantly liked her and she treated us incredibly well despite having a very busy bar and being the only one working. As someone who's worked in the service industry for 20+ years she instantly stood out and she made our experience memorable.
