My mom and I stayed here last night and Thomas was outstanding. He went out of his way to accommodate us. He ensured that we had indoor storage for our bikes overnight and allowed us to leave them there after check-out while we had breakfast. He even told us we could leave our vehicle parked in the lot while we went for a bike ride.
Our room was clean and well appointed. The shower had awesome pressure. The pool was indoor/outdoor with loungers in both areas. There was also a hot tub and sauna inside but we didn’t make use of those. The entire area was clean and tidy.
The area at the back was very relaxing with trees, a picnic table and a view of Little Lake. There was a dock where boats could tie up so they could come in for lunch. We were just a short walk to Del Crary Park where we were able to attend the free MusicFest concert in the evening.
We would definitely stay here again.

I stay in a lot of hotels for work, and this one deserves recognition!
Renee & Erin at the front desk made my experience incredible. It was my birthday and they were fully booked & I was very worried I wasn’t going to accommodate my guests. Not only did they go out of their way to coordinate everything with an amazing attitude, but they even recognized my birthday.
I never write reviews, but I will definitely go out of my way to come back and visit strictly because of these two staff members & wanted to share.

We used this hotel for our Wedding hotel block. Every time we called we either got no answer or directed to Stanley. It took multiple weeks for responses.
No compensation for bringing multiple guests, no late checkout or early check in.
The hotel was meh. Rooms were fine, view was nice. Outdated. The price was not good for value. The nicest part was the pool and breakfast area.
Overall wouldn’t recommend.
Our final parting gift was someone knocking on our door BEFORE check-out time asking when we were leaving so they can clean.

As Steve said a month ago, the electrical outlets are still loose and the shower water temperature fluctuates and the body wash in the dispnsers makes you feel slimy. Then to top it off the water pressure was so bad it took forever to feel clean. Also be sure to to double check rates. Make sure they are in Canadian dollars and realize they're shown as per night and know there are many add ons. I assumed their per night rate was actually for a 2 night stay because I had just looked at motel 6 rate and their 2 night stay was only slightly lower...so yes 1 night stay at Holiday Inn was more than 2 nights at motel 6. You will also be charged 1 night if you cancel your stay regardless of the fact they advertise you can cancel. Lots of little fine print extras that unfortunately I hadn't counted on. So for my needs of just requiring aa comfortable bed and no pool this was not worth the extra and there lots of parking for the music fest concerts but your Uber cost wouldn't be 270.00 either. Just sayin.

Hotel location beside the river sounds ideal and from the pictures it sure looks it. However in practice it is a different story. Probably was a nice area when built but it's not anymore Turns out that while this is in the downtown area there is a homeless encampment across the road behind the Tim Hortons and open drug use and sex work going on in plain view all day and they hang out along the boardwalk between the hotel grounds and the river. Not sure who thought it was a good idea to locate the restaurant and lobby at the far north end of the building while the elevator, that is correct 1 elevator is located at almost the opposite end of building???. We booked a courtyard room with outside access as we were traveling with our dog. We were told be the staff that we were in the basement....They weren't kidding it was so damp and the hallway smelled like the crawlspace under your grampas cottage. The A/C unit in our room could manage the temperature but did nothing for the humidity. Imagine every thing fabric feeling cold and damp like it's fresh out of the washing machine. I also have to agree with the other reviews about the hot water...it's hit&miss if you can have a hot shower. The outside terrace restaurant and bar area is really nice but you either have to access it from the lobby area down the stairs or from the basement level and walk up then down another flight of stairs. There is a sidewalk that surrounds the courtyard and leads over to the lower bar area but it is fenced off with a locked gate and no signs to warn that isn't an access point. Pretty sure that the local FD would have an issue with it being locked and it being an exit point in case of a fire. We did take out in room food service from the terrace bar it was really good. We also did dinner from the restaurant. Wife's chicken parm was really good but how do you mess up a pepperoni pizza? It was freshly made not frozen but if you don't cook it long enough not just merely melt the cheese and then just throw it in the box.. The pool and exercise room and pool deck have to be accessed from the 1st floor or basement level. So you have to walk do to the elevator at one end of the building go down to basement then walk all the way back in the other direction to access the pool area. Then up a bunch of stairs to the pool deck and outside pool deck area. The pool area could use some TLC from broken tile to needing a regrout in some places to tiles that are slicker when wet than a non stick pan. In the pool area there was a staircase that went nowhere just a wall. The pool view rooms seemed strange to look at from the pool area. There is a gate to access the terrace restaurant/bar from the pool area but guess what...It's also padlocked?? So your only options are a lot of walking and lots of stairs or as one guest did when we were there hop the fence...
Our room had been renovated a quick glance and it looked nice but actual fit and finish and it was lipstick on a pig. The 20 yr old A/C heating unit was missing buttons and noisy. The upgraded linens were nice but the 2-3" of foam on the beds and the marshmallow pillows was not. The hallways and public spaces and secondary building entrances showed their age and wear and tear.
Would I come back and stay? No nor would I recommend it to friends. The property is like a series additions that kept getting added on without thinking about the overall all flow. If you're a person with mobility issues stay away. The limited menu at dinner is not family friendly. Not worth the prices charged.
