  The good: Front desk staff were extremely pleasant to deal with and were quite friendly. The ok: Breakfast is the standard hotel breakfast; not great, but plentiful and there's something there for everyone. The not so good: The room type we reserved was not available (2 queens) and were offered a queen and a pull-out couch. In hindsight we should have said no, as the pull-out couch was definitely not comfortable at all. In addition the supplied linen and blankets for the couch were stained (bleach stains, but still). We were offered a $20 credit for their in-house "store" as compensation for our requested room type not being available. A nice gesture. The bad: The pool was absolutely disgusting. There were 'things' floating in it, one can only hope it was pieces of rusted metal that were flaking off from the ceiling, along with some hair and 'fluffs' that must have come in from outdoors due to the doors in the pool area being propped open. Food waste (leftover banana peels and apple sauce containers) from previous guests were left on the pool deck chairs (guess you really should enforce the 'no food in the pool area' policy you appear to have). No fresh pool towels were re-stock and had to get someone from the front desk to bring them in. IF that's a heated pool this hotel has then the heater certainly wasn't working; it would be a miracle if the water was warmer than 20C. I'm quite surprised by this Holiday Inn Express - this chain is usually quite good, unfortunately not this specific hotel. Our first time at this hotel will also be the last.

  Service is very respectful and responsive. Cleaning staff is always smiling and very kind, god bless them. The hotel and the room is very very clean, unlike most i have been to (and even some above it in stars). Gym is good enough, pool was freezing cold and a bit dirty but otherwise nice.

  I had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life at this Holiday Inn. As a young woman traveling alone, safety is my top priority, and this hotel completely failed in that regard. During my stay, the front desk informed me that they had mistakenly given a room key to another guest. At 3:00 AM, a grown man used that key and opened my hotel room door while I was asleep. It was terrifying to wake up and realize that a stranger had been given access to my room. As if that wasn't bad enough, after being woken up in the middle of the night, I was repeatedly disturbed by phone calls from the hotel at 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, and 8:00 AM. After the frightening incident at 3:00 AM, the last thing I needed was multiple wake-up calls. What was most disappointing was the staff's response. When I reported that a man had entered my room, the employee I spoke with showed little concern and simply told me there was "nothing we can do" before telling me to take care. There was no meaningful apology, no effort to make me feel safe, and no attempt to address the seriousness of the situation. Giving a stranger access to a guest's room is a major security failure. I did not feel safe, supported, or valued as a guest. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel, especially for women traveling alone.

  The place was spotless; the breakfast had an amazing breakfast. The front office customer service was excellent, friendly, and efficient. I have stayed at several Holiday Inn Expresses throughout Ontario and am totally impressed. I will not stay at any other hotel but Holiday Inn Express. Thank you John and Sam for a wonderful stay!
