Sam, at the front counter, was very efficuent and effective ,in checking us in. Receivinv us with inthusiastic smile after long travelling day, and answering all the questions we had. Sam was informative, and gave us few tips abiut the city, and suggested to us the most economic and confortable way to visit and ho around downtown Toronto
The comfortable room was very clean and warming, the bed wss so comfortable, made us feel energetic and ready for our first adventure, visiting the island from downtown Toronto.
Very good, excelent room service.. couldn't remember her name, but she came from Tebet.
Way to go Sam & "Tebet girl"
The staff are very helpful and very friendly. First time in Canada and my gf and I had rented a car to get around but Sam at the front desk told us about the train station and how we could use it to get back and forth. It’s definitely saved us a lot of time and money since the trains run for so cheap! He also recommended a nice dinner spot in Port Credit at Snug Harbour which was delicious! Room staff were also very nice and kept our room very neat and tidy. The complimentary breakfast was enjoyable and had a variety of different offerings. The manager would come around and ask guests how their stay was, which was nice of him. Overall, I would strongly recommend staying here! Say hi to Sam for us!
Amazing hotel! Whenever I’m booking I always read so many reviews before and compare… This one for sure meets 5 stars! Even with a little hiccup the manager on duty made the moment right. This was our first family trip with our 7 month old and this hotel made it so great.
When checking in the receptionist was so kind and had a wonderful smile. I wish I had caught her name! My card originally wasn’t working so I had to go grab my husband’s. Afterwards we laughed about her shift just starting. We checked in on Wednesday around 4:30pm! So I hope you know who you are and get the kudos you deserve!
The cleaning staff were fantastic! We talked to one lady in the elevator with our baby. Such a kind soul!
When checking out Leslie finished our stay on such a high note! She was so kind and truly cared. Another receptionist with a lovely smile!
Great breakfast selection. The upkeep with every item during the breakfast hours was really good. Nothing was ever empty. Was replaced very fast.
The gym is a typical hotel gym! Nothing crazy but everything you would need for a little hotel workout.
We didn’t check out the pool closely but it looked good as well!
Lastly, was an easy drive to downtown Toronto!
Overall fantastic stay. Thank you everyone who helped us out and everyone behind the scenes doing the work they do!
Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Mississauga and overall it was a decent stay for the price, although there are a few areas that could use some attention.
Check-in was a little slow and somewhat awkward. However, Sherryl, who was working the front desk later that evening, was absolutely lovely — very friendly and helpful. She definitely made up for the initial check-in experience and left me with a much better impression of the service.
I was also surprised to learn that bottled water isn’t standard across all Holiday Inns and is apparently at the discretion of each hotel. Good to know for future stays!
The room itself was clean, spacious and mostly updated. I liked that it was divided into two areas, with a separate bedroom and office/living space. The couch and floor lamp, however, seemed noticeably older than the rest of the renovated room — almost like the renovation budget stopped just before reaching that corner. 😅
The room was initially warm but cooled down once the AC was turned on. The downside is that the unit is in the bedroom and quite loud, especially when the fan kicks in. I also noticed the room warming up in the morning despite being set to 20°C — it reached about 22°C even with the windows closed.
The bathroom was generally clean and adequate, but the shower head definitely needs some attention and a thorough cleaning. There was visible grime, which brought down my overall impression of the room. Some of the electrical outlets also didn’t work reliably and required some wiggling to get a connection.
The bed was comfortable but definitely on the softer side, so something to keep in mind if you prefer a firmer mattress.
Breakfast was extremely busy when I went down around 8:30 a.m. The area was packed, and several items had run out, including oatmeal, bacon and sausages. The eggs were below average, but at least the coffee was nice and strong.
Location-wise, this is very much a business/industrial area, so there isn’t much within walking distance. You’ll likely want a car if you plan to explore or go out for meals.
Overall, it’s a decent stay at a good price. The room was clean, spacious and mostly updated, and Sherryl’s excellent service was a highlight. However, the bathroom cleanliness, unreliable outlets, noisy AC and breakfast experience keep this at around a 3-star stay for me. With a little more attention to maintenance and some operational improvements, it could easily be better.

I have never experienced such poor treatment from a hotel before in my entire life. I do not recommend anyone book this hotel unless they are okay with them cancelling your fully paid for room after you arrive.
My mother and I arrived at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mississauga–Toronto Southwest at approximately 11:30 PM after a long day of travel, expecting to check into our fully paid for and confirmed reservation that had been booked weeks in advance.
Instead, we were told at the front desk that our room was cancelled due to "water damage." We had received no call, voicemail, email, text, or any warning before arriving. The staff claimed they called us but no such call was ever received. The staff could not even find my reservation in their system and only had my name written on a piece of paper along with two other names. They didn't know which website I had used to book and said the day staff had deleted all my details and left them with no instructions. All these inconsistencies call into question the veracity of their claims. They tried calling me but didn't bother to leave a text, voicemail or email (which will leave a permanent record).
The most upsetting part was not the room issue itself — unexpected maintenance problems can happen. The problem was how we were treated afterward. We were told to request a refund ourselves and find another hotel at midnight. When we asked them to arrange alternative accommodation, they told us we would have to pay ourselves first and the hotel would reimburse us "later" but would give no written promises. They kept saying they would email me with all the details but I have still not received any communication from them. None of their actions instilled any trust that I would ever be reimbursed if I paid. They tried to coerce me to pay by saying if they lose the room reservation with the alternate hotel because I don't pay, they won't help me further.
My mother and I spent almost two hours standing at the front desk late at night, exhausted and stressed, trying to get basic assistance for a reservation that the hotel had accepted and confirmed. There was no apology, no empathy, and no urgency from the staff. We were not even offered any water let alone refreshments.
A hotel employee from the alternative hotel (Admiral Inn) had to inform us of our rights and explained to us that the hotel should arrange and pay for accommodation when they cannot honour a confirmed reservation and that we should not pay ourselves. He said that this is standard hotel policy and couldn't believe how Holiday Inn was treating two women in the middle of the night. At Admiral Inn, we were immediately offered refreshments and taken care of. We finally reached the alternate hotel around 1:30 AM.
Holiday Inn verbally promised to issue a full refund and when I asked for written confirmation and they kept insisting that they would send an email. I am yet to receive any such email from them processing the refund.
I understand that problems happen, but leaving guests stranded at midnight and making them fight for help is unacceptable. A hotel should make guests feel safe and cared for, not like they are a problem for inconveniencing the staff.
I hope Holiday Inn/IHG reviews how this property handles situations like this because no traveller should experience this after paying in advance for a confirmed room.
