Rooms were clean and everyone that I encountered was very nice. But, I would like to specifically call out Ron with room service. From taking my order to following up with a phone call later to check how everything was, he was absolutely wonderful to deal with and very friendly. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable.

This seemed like the place to be in Modesto. Half the building is rooms, and the other half is office space. The lobby is huge, and there's plenty of event space. The parking garage is across the street connected via a pedestrian tunnel that smells like urine, well more urine-y than Modesto. The lobby has a bar/restaurant. There's a good outdoor pool. And the gym is actually pretty good.

Use to be one of the nicest hotels in town, seriously worse cleaning! The blankets looked not washed the towels smell and not to say the night was horrible. We laid and the bed smelled like old throw up!! Wouldn’t stay here again!!

I had an icky feeling as soon as I pulled in the parking garage something made my heart race. Not sure but felt like something bad happened. A lot of train amd loud music noise. I live very close to train tracks but its not this loud. The bed and pillow were lumpy. Bird poop all over the pool area. A disappointment for Double tree

Front desk staff friendliness was poor. Expectations for a DoubleTree are modest, but this property still fell short. One employee provided an explanation that later had to be corrected by a supervisor who called back. While I appreciated the follow-up call, there was no apology and the interaction was not particularly helpful.
The valet staff were the only bright spot—they were very kind and professional, although even they seemed unsure about the pricing. The posted valet rate does not match what is currently being charged.
Breakfast is overpriced for the quality offered. The train noise is a real issue, though not entirely the hotel’s fault and somewhat expected for downtown Modesto. The same goes for sirens. That said, the location is within walking distance to many of Modesto’s best restaurants and bars, which still makes it an ideal spot.
Overall, the front-end staff could benefit from additional training. This is a hospitality-based industry, and that aspect was noticeably lacking.
For context, I was in Modesto attending a wedding.
