Got in quite late, found a single employee manning the phones, checking in guests, and doing everything at the front desk. Didn't feel too good at first, but I have to say the employee was very welcoming and knowledgeable. After taking care of the guests ahead of me in the queue, he swiftly got me checked in and on my way. A complete turnaround in vibe, all thanks to the positive attitude of this guy. I got his name, Enrique, and thanked him profusely. The hotel itself is comfortable even if it's a little old. The room we got was clean, and the location to Muir woods can't be beat.
Enrique, you're awesome!

recently stayed at Holiday Inn Express Mill Valley San Francisco Area (near Sausalito), and overall it was a really good experience. The hotel is in a great location, especially if you want to visit Sausalito or explore San Francisco—it’s close to the highway and right near scenic walking and biking paths by the water.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious, with cozy beds that made it easy to relax after a long day. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth and easy. Many guests also appreciate the free breakfast and 24-hour coffee, which adds a lot of convenience to the stay.
Another highlight is the peaceful setting. Even though it’s close to the road, it still feels quiet and calm, with nice views and access to outdoor areas like the pool and nearby trails.
There are a few small downsides, like the breakfast being a bit basic and occasional minor issues (like Wi-Fi or room keys), but nothing that takes away too much from the overall experience.
Overall, this hotel is a great choice if you’re looking for something clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced in a convenient location near Sausalito.
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) Would recommend for a relaxing and easy stay!

I can’t imagine a business relying on hospitality being this inhospitable.
They share a parking lot with a restaurant. We pulled in via the left side and wrapped around to find a spot. Once we did, there were no “no parking signs” for our spot. Fast forward two hours we have a stolen car and are out $700. I can see that happening if a car is left for an extended period of time. But this was not.
I was a loyal IHG customer until now.
To top it off, the contractor they used to steal my car made fun of my visual disability.

Traveling with a 35’ travel trailer, kids, and a dog can make finding the right place to stay challenging, but during our time in Mill Valley, the Holiday Inn Express Mill Valley San Francisco Area ended up being one of the most accommodating and stress-free stops of our trip.
When we arrived, the roads around the hotel were partially flooded due to high tide, which caught us off guard. The staff handled it calmly and efficiently, they quickly guided us to the only dry area of the lot and helped us get parked without any issues, which gave us a lot of confidence right from the start.
We ended up parking along the back of the property near the Mill Valley–Sausalito Path, and were able to keep our truck and trailer connected without disrupting other guests or staff. It was a bit tight navigating one corner when leaving, but overall very manageable for a larger setup.
Our ground floor room with a sliding door opening onto a green space was ideal for traveling with a dog (there is an additional pet fee). Having that direct outdoor access made everything much more convenient and relaxed.
The room itself was quiet and comfortable, and everything felt clean, well maintained, and taken care of, which made it easy to relax after a full day of exploring.
One of the standout features of this location is the surrounding environment. The hotel sits right along marshlands and walking paths, and the nearby boardwalk was perfect for getting out and exploring. We walked over toward the Tamalpais Valley Junction area and the Recreation House Cabin, and it ended up being a really enjoyable way to spend part of the afternoon. There was also a surprising amount of wildlife and bird activity along the way, which added a really peaceful, almost unexpected nature element to the stay.
The pool area was clean, well maintained, and easy to access from our room, and the kids had a great time there.
Breakfast had a good variety of options, including healthier choices, and having fresh coffee available throughout the day was a nice bonus.
The location is also a big advantage. It’s just a short drive to the Golden Gate Bridge, making it a great base for exploring San Francisco while staying in a quieter, more relaxed setting.
Overall, this stay worked extremely well for our setup. Between the helpful staff, pet-friendly layout, access to walking paths, and convenient location, it’s especially well suited for families, pet owners, or anyone traveling with a larger vehicle.
If you have any questions about staying here with a trailer or traveling with kids, feel free to ask.
