I’ve waited a few weeks since my 1-night stay in early March in hopes I would be more level-headed and forgiving in my review… unfortunately I feel obligated to be genuine about the experience so that others don’t make the same mistake. Ultimately, the location is pretty. You have some views of the lake, partially obstructed by trees (duh, welcome to nature), and the environment is peaceful outside. (Also duh, it’s located in a public park). What was NOT enjoyable fell into 2 main categories: 1. Room quality Exhibit A. Smell: The first-floor Standard King + Twin Loft room we were in smelled like wet dog. Of course, the hotel is dog friendly which is great, but for the almost $400 for one night, this was nothing short of disappointing. Exhibit B: Sound proofing (or lack thereof) We got to experience a very passionate room next door. Which is, of course, a part of life. But when you get the same experience the next morning and the sound transfers SO strongly you can VERY clearly hear your neighbors even tapping their toothbrush on their bathroom sink (let alone tapping other things) while you’re in bed, that just points to very poor building construction with zero insulation, not neighbors that are outliers in the sound output department. For this reason alone, I can’t imagine this location would be great for a wedding, unless you’re very close with your wedding attendees. Exhibit C: Ridiculous creaky bathroom door on the level of horror movie sound effects and bent window screens (hello bugs!) 2. Hotel Amenities (that you pay $28 extra for) Exhibit A: NO YOGA SATURDAY MORNINGS!!! Yep, you read that right. Even though it’s very clearly stated on their website and in their amenities book (see the pic), I was told that “there’s no yoga this Saturday since the weather wasn’t good this time last year.” Mind you this was a gorgeous high 60°F to mid 70°F Saturday morning with clear blue skies. Again, for almost $400/night PLUS an amenities fee you would think they would check the weather or, at the very least, respect their residents enough to let them know ahead of time. Exhibit B: S’more’s situation Since they repackage the s’mores into little paper baggies to look more high-end, all you’re getting are Hershey’s chocolate wax squares and dried out marshmallows. The icing on the cake for a very mediocre stay, if you will. TL;DR: more than disappointed about the room and “amenities” including: - it smelling of wet dog - comically creaky bathroom door (which I am sure $5 lubricant and a care could fix) - bent screens to really get the outdoors in - lack of any soundproofing between rooms - NO YOGA (yes I am still upset about this) - mid $2 s’more’s Sincerely, Someone who feels obligated to keep it real to my fellow peeps.

Very friendly and lovely place to visit and relax. Tiny trails are cute and love their fire pit centered around the lodge. Only downside: My room was a bit musty, shower was almost too small, and the door was not fully closed after house keeping.

Imagine this: you pack a bag, bring your dog, and drive out to the Lodge at Marconi after work. The approach alone feels like a transition - winding roads, rolling hills, glimpses of the Pacific. As dusk settles and darkness blankets the land, the drive is clearly marked and welcoming. A fire glows outside the lobby, where guests gather for complimentary s’mores from the front desk. Melissa greeted me that evening - jovial, warm, and effortlessly efficient. Check-in felt less like a transaction and more like an arrival. After settling in, we walked up to Mable’s just up the hill. The air was crisp. Jackie seated us outside, wiping down the table and setting up the heater while asking what brought us there. The service felt attentive without being intrusive - thoughtful in a way that made you feel both seen and relaxed. The manager recommended the oysters (sourced just down the hillside), clam chowder, beef short ribs, carrots, and potatoes he described as “ridiculously good.” He wasn’t wrong. One bite and I understood the confidence behind the recommendation. Jackie crafted a mezcal cocktail - technically out of season due to its pomegranate base - so she improvised beautifully. It was smoky, warm and sweet; perfect for the evening. Every dish felt intentional and dessert was too - chocolate mousse, peanut butter, caramel, roasted marshmallow, quinoa bark, and peanuts that melted together in a single, perfectly balanced bite. Later, I returned to the now-quiet fire, made one last s’more, and sat in stillness. There was a palpable sense of history on the land - a peaceful awareness of all who had gathered there before. The room was simple and deeply comfortable. I read before wrapping myself in crisp sheets and falling asleep on a cool pillow. In the morning, wrapped in a Marconi robe, I walked to the sauna and meditated - alternating between closed eyes and views of trees and the Pacific beyond. After a hot shower, I packed up and chose a nearby trail. The hike unfolded like a story: a solitary yellow chair overlooking rolling hills and ocean; the distant sound of cattle; clusters of seats that felt as if laughter had only just faded; historic buildings standing quietly in time; a small pond alive with frogs; ravens calling overhead; forest trails opening into meadow views. Eventually, the paths brought me back near Mable’s. For breakfast, Haven greeted me and I chose the same table from the night before. I ordered the French toast after seeing the light in the eyes of my waitress when she described it - along with black coffee and scrambled eggs. Robert, the manager, stopped by to ask about my stay and suggested one final trail before I left. He was right - it was the perfect closing note. The Lodge at Marconi offers more than a stay. It offers space - to breathe, to wander, to reconnect. Wherever you’re traveling from, you may just find solace here.

It’s very beautiful here but the rooms are so and so, smells like lack of ventilation… not much room to sit unless you sit on your bed. The restaurant is very nice

To be forced into such a sad review is so disappointing. We have stayed here before. Three years ago it was a completely different place. Tonight we paid $350 for a room which includes $80 in fees. It was a long day of driving in the rain and we were looking forward to a night of rest and quiet. Immediately upon entering our room a loud yapping dog starting barking and continued to bark with every move or sound we made in our room. We went back down to the office and was told by the girl that there wasn’t any other rooms with two beds like we booked except for the ones near the dog. She said she knew the people in the room with the dog. Not sure what that meant or how that was relevant. Basically at this point it was dark and we had no other place to go. She put us in a horrible room above the office with two beds but one is a weird twin bed in the corner. The room is sterile and stinks with a IKEA couch, no door on the bathroom and we can hear every voice and sound below us in the office. The girl spent most the night talking on the phone downstairs. When we came here last time the room was beautiful, the bathroom gorgeous and the place was so cozy. This room is a cheap, plastic floor, echoing smelly chamber. Did I mention it stinks? There are only a few people in the entire place and this is where she put us? I couldn’t be any more disappointed. We talked this place up to everyone and couldn’t wait to return. What a let down. Did I use the word disappointing enough? Probably not. If you are looking for a romantic quiet getaway do not come here unless you want to be disappointed.
