Had booked a stay with this hotel in april 2025 and had to cancel because my grandfather suddenly passed away and had to go back home. This was the day before I was supposed to arrive in LA. The hotel still charged me the cancellation fee of $175. I have sent them a few emails asking if I could please get that back since a family member passed away suddenly and they did not respond to any of them. I asked booking.com to contact them and that I could even sent over the obituary and they told booking they won’t refund me. I’m very frustrated about this and they don’t care at all. I’m looking at new hotels now to book to go to LA in april 2026 and won’t be re booking this hotel. Had they responded and been compassionate and refund me since this was a situation out of my control I would have 100% re booked for our trip to LA, so keep that in mind when booking.

I booked my sister's 80th birthday party from 12-5 to 12-6/2025 at the Carlyle Inn. What a fabulous time we had at the hotel with the stupendous support and attentiveness of the manager, Jessica. The staff were so accommodating for the birthday celebration, they assisted with every detail, and the service was immediate from helping us set up the party, to making sure our guests were accommodated, and ensuring that we had a beautiful experience. Family members commented on the quaint/clean rooms, the friendly staff, the great location of the hotel, and the intimate setting. It was a very memorable experience for our family.

Older building, but that's common for the area. The decor was sleek and modern. Comfortable bed.

The hotel does look like the photos in terms of structure, colors, and overall design. However, the photos clearly seem to be from when the hotel first opened. Unfortunately, the reality today is very different.
The property feels extremely old and poorly maintained. There is a strong smell of storage or dampness throughout, and everything looks worn out, used, and neglected. The rooms have very dark lighting, which makes the space feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Being inside the room feels like being in a very old, outdated place with a strange odor that never really goes away.
Noise from other rooms is constant and very noticeable, making it difficult to relax. Even when you are inside your room, there is an ongoing feeling of discomfort, almost as if someone could enter at any moment, which makes it hard to feel at ease.
The parking area is also very dirty and poorly kept. As for the location, while it is close to some places we needed to visit, it is not a good area overall. The street feels unsafe, and you have to be very cautious, especially at night.
I chose this hotel because I checked the reviews on Expedia and it had a very good rating. I felt confident booking after reading those reviews, even though I made my reservation through the hotel’s official website. Unfortunately, once I arrived, the experience was completely different from what the reviews suggested.
Overall, this hotel is no longer what it once was when it first opened. It feels outdated, neglected, and uncomfortable. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.
