Checkin experience 4/5 Amenities 5/5 Breakfast 4/5 Checkout experience 2/5 Booked double queen bed through Chase The Edit. Not upgraded to higher floor room (stayed during Thanksgiving holidays, probably was pretty booked up), but was offered other (single bed or paid suites) upgrade options. Wasn't notified about the $20(25?) credit that could be applied towards food or other services (found about it accidentally when talked to reception staff on another day). Overall check-in 4/5 Breakfast was included with Chase The Edit reservation as a $39 per person credit. The catch is that any taxes or tips are not covered by that credit, and 18% gratituty is added AUTOMATICALLY to any food/beverage service. (So expect to pay ~$20 for a "free" 2 person breakfast, no one really cares, but it's annoying, no one likes hidden sneaky fees). Same goes for that $100 credit (that can only be used on drinks/food) Breakfast was also served very slowly, one day we had to remind staff multiple times, waited for about an hour and were not served food until I found a manager and complained. Also breakfast seating is very small, either arrive early or expect to wait 20-40min to be seated. What was really annoying is checkout and post checkout experience. When checking out reception staff said there is no outstanding balance, which is commonly understood that there are no additional charges on top of what was already paid upon check-in. Then next day I see a charge, and after checking the bill it was obvious they have overcharged, incorrectly adding room credits. It took multiple back and forth emails to get this resolved, as initially customer service didn't want to acknowledge the mistake. Service 3/5 Hotel is brand new, amenities are great, rooms are nice (just hope you don't mind seeing all the consulting/banking logos from your window), kind of expected for a brand new hotel, 5/5 Tldr: comfortable brand new hotel, with luxury being ruined by hidden fees and poor checkout/customer service.

We have been staying at this hotel since its inception, and every visit truly feels like coming home. We are always greeted by Mr. Manny Ayala with the warmest smile, which immediately makes us feel welcomed and valued. He is consistently kind, professional, and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure our stay is exceptional. During this visit, we were also warmly welcomed by Mr. Rick Gomez at the front desk. He was incredibly attentive to our needs and took such wonderful care of us, treating us like family. His genuine hospitality made our experience even more special. My wife and I wholeheartedly recommend this property for any occasion. We have stayed at InterContinental Hotels in Seoul, Tokyo, Bali, New York, and Chicago, and without a doubt, the Los Angeles location has the most outstanding staff. Manny and Rick are truly exceptional and invaluable to the hotel, and their dedication and warmth deserve special recognition.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Intercontinental. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable,, luxurious and the view was absolutely great. Everything felt relaxing and well maintained. Definitely an upscale hotel walking distance to the crypto center, LA live and convention center and more. The steakhouse was absolutely delicious. Le Boucherie. Highly recommend having dinner there. A special thank you to the lovely girl at the front desk with a beautiful smile — she was warm, professional, and welcoming. I believe her name was Megan if I recall. She made check-in smooth and easy. Her kindness and positive attitude made a real difference. For my husband and I, good customer service from the young people today is very important to us. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to my friends and family and business partners.

It’s not just the view of the hotel — it’s the service. When it comes to service from Manny and Angel, you can truly expect the best stay at an IHG hotel. We live in Orange County, and we love staying at IHG LA Downtown because it’s an easy commute and gives us the chance to enjoy quality time with family, beautiful LA city views, and the Club Lounge experience. From the moment you arrive, the first people you meet are the front desk staff, and Manny and Angel truly set the tone for an amazing stay. They are incredibly welcoming, warm, and genuinely kind. Their positive energy immediately makes you feel comfortable and valued, and it truly feels like coming home. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and sincere care for guests turn a simple stay into a memorable experience. Because of them, every visit feels special, and we always look forward to coming back. Manny and Angel are a true asset to IHG, and they are a big reason why this hotel continues to be our favorite place to stay in LA.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay at the InterContinental was genuinely unacceptable. 1. Check-in mistake: We were first sent to a room that was clearly prepared for other guests, complete with their name card still inside. This is a basic operational failure and a privacy issue. 2. Misleading credits: We were told we had a $25 food & beverage credit, but later discovered it does not apply to tax, which was never disclosed by the front desk at check-in. This feels intentionally unclear and misleading. 3. Mandatory gratuity abuse: An 18% mandatory gratuity was added even for to-go orders. That is unreasonable and not standard practice, especially without clear upfront notice. Overall, the experience felt poorly managed, poorly communicated, and not at all aligned with what you expect from an InterContinental property. Very disappointing.
