Super disappointed!
As a Hilton member I definitely won’t be returning!
The front desk was rude.
Put me in a room with no hot water or pressure. Had to wait two hours to be moved and had the same issue. Finally by 3 am had a room with warm water. Kids in the hallway smoking and security walked right by them. Then upon leaving noticed they charged me 347.00 for the room when the booking rate was 149.00! Didn’t offer any compensation and the rooms were old, and filthy!! Thank goodness it was conveniently located to a different hotel because I will never stay with Hilton again!!

Admittedly I have never stayed at this hotel. That is because they cancelled our reservation about 30 minutes before we arrived. The reason given was that the hotel was supposedly leaking during a rainstorm. According to the National Weather Service the rainfall for that entire day totaled .43 inches, so not exactly a deluge. We quickly pivoted to book a room at the Miyako Hotel 2 blocks away, which was able to weather the .43 inches of rain just fine. I can't say much else about the downtown DoubleTree, but feel free to speculate about what else might be wrong at a nearly 50 year-old hotel that can't withstand rain drops.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at the DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Los Angeles.
At check-in, we were guaranteed a room, but upon arrival we were assigned a room that was filthy, had visible mold, and emitted a strong, unpleasant odor. The conditions were unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a Hilton-branded property.
When we immediately complained to the front desk, one staff member admitted that the hotel was overbooked and that we were placed in a room that had not been properly cleaned due to lack of availability. We were told that we would be moved to a clean room at 11:00 AM
However, when we continued to check back, the time was repeatedly pushed back, leaving us without a room for the majority of the day. We were essentially charged for a day we could not use, spending hours out on the street with no access to accommodations. Despite this, management refused to issue a refund or any meaningful compensation.
The manager was not understanding, and overall customer service was poor. Staff were inattentive to our needs, and after raising concerns, it felt as though we were treated worse rather than assisted.
I work for a nearby law enforcement agency, and I can confidently say this is by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The lack of accountability, cleanliness, and professionalism was shocking.
I would not recommend this property to anyone. If anyone needs additional information, I am more than willing to share further details about this experience.

We came to LA for universal and booked this hotel for affordability. It’s a 4star hotel but has nothing but a Kyoto garden. There is a sad lobby bar with a morning happy hour. No free breakfast. No pool, no jacuzzi. When we checked in, we got trapped in the elevator. Called, rang the bell and nobody came to help us. We had to press multiple buttons for the door to finally open. Awful staff. Slow, broken elevators. The rooms are old and dingy. Our light was broken in our room and it was dim the entire time except the bathroom light. The tub had paint peeling off an extremely loud noise coming from the shower/plumbing and fan. Our shower gels, shampoo and conditioner were nearly empty. AC didn’t work. Fridge was barely cold and our things spoiled. The parking garage had a broken ticket machine and we kept having to call about leaving. The guy always sounded cranky. Our WiFi info didn’t work and we called multiple times and nobody answered. Nobody answered anytime we called in general. At least they give you some cookies and water. You’re steps away from skid row with questionable people roaming around and right across a 7eleven with odd behavior outside always. Just pay more for a better experience and stay.

We booked this place because of its convenient location, nice looking photos of the room online, and the Hilton brand, but it was extremely disappointing.
The room we got (20th floor) was horrible! Definitely not up to the standard we expect from a 4-star Hilton-affiliated hotel. The room was not clean (dust still all over the floor, hair ties and other junk left on the floor), the sink was cracked, the bathroom walls were falling apart. The first night we found a spider in the bathroom. Okay, but we didn't say anything thus far. But the real dealbreaker came on the second morning, when my partner came out of the shower and took one of the folded towels, there was a live cockroach inside! Unbelievable! That is when we said enough is enough and filed a claim to the front desk. The saving grace of this place was that at least they took our claims and gave us a new room with rewards points. But our trip was still ruined, and my partner was traumatized from facing a cockroach coming out of the shower.
One more thing. The night we arrived, the self parking lot was full, so we had to use the valet service ($54 per night, mind you). I was told to call them from my room the next morning to prepare my car, but they didn't pick up. So we walked down, but they were terribly slow to retrieve our car. Anyways, since we were offered complimentary parking from the incident above, they were supposed to waive this valet charge from our bill, but once I returned home, I found that I was charged for it! So I had to give them a call once again to get this sorted. They really need to get their act together.
Will not visit again.
