$15 parking for overnight hotel guest is outrageous for this area especially when the hotel is half full at 11 PM.

The room reeked of formaldehyde. I experienced a severe headache just one hour after checking in. I will never come here again, and I would not recommend it to other guests.

My partner is an IHG Diamond member, and we frequently stay at Holiday Inn properties, which made this stay especially surprising.
When we arrived around 11 AM, we asked about early check-in. At many other Holiday Inn locations we’ve been able to check in earlier when rooms are available, but here we were told we could not check in until 2 PM. As a result, my 7-year-old daughter and I sat in the parking lot in the sun for several hours. When we eventually checked in, the manager was already rude and confrontational, which set the tone for the entire stay.
Housekeeping was inconsistent as well. On two occasions our room wasn’t serviced until around 4 PM, and both times I had to call and request it. When housekeeping finally arrived, the staff member mentioned she had already been off for an hour.
Towels: I first asked the front desk if I could have extra towels to take to the beach and explained that I would return them. I was told that I could not have extra towels, so I returned to our room and took towels from our room before heading outside.
Shortly after, the manager followed us to our car in the parking lot and confronted us while we were sitting inside the vehicle. He accused me of “sneaking towels” and said he had seen it on camera, even though I had already spoken with the front desk. The situation felt unnecessary and intimidating, especially since I had tried to communicate first.
During the confrontation, he spoke about me to my partner while I was standing right there and even threatened to call my father — despite me being a 32-year-old adult traveling with my partner and daughter. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional.
Another uncomfortable situation occurred while doing laundry. Because the hotel only has one washer and one dryer, we brought a luggage cart across the small residential street to the nearby laundromat parking lot while washing blankets and several loads of laundry. While we were waiting, we briefly went to a taco restaurant in the same parking lot.
A hotel employee came into the restaurant and loudly announced to the entire room that the luggage cart needed to be returned immediately and could not be taken off property. My partner apologized and returned the cart right away. However, the situation was embarrassing and unnecessary, especially since our vehicles were still in the hotel parking lot, our belongings were still in the room, and another luggage cart was sitting unused in the lobby at the time.
We stayed here for a full week and unfortunately experienced several situations like this.
We normally enjoy Holiday Inn properties and expect a much more welcoming and professional experience, especially as loyal IHG guests.
Because of the uncomfortable interactions with management and the number of service issues we experienced, we have followed up directly with IHG Guest Relations and hope this is reviewed at both the corporate and property level so future guests do not encounter similar situations.
EDIT in response to management’s latest reply:
This response is a clear misrepresentation of what actually occurred.
Attempting to frame a payment situation as “potentially fraudulent” is inaccurate and unnecessarily inflammatory. That was not the nature of the interaction.
Regarding the towels — I spoke with the front desk beforehand and used towels from our room with the intention of returning them. Being followed to the parking lot and accused of “sneaking towels” was not about policy, but about how the situation was handled.
The same applies to the luggage cart. It was being actively used while we were doing laundry nearby, not abandoned. The decision to escalate that into a public confrontation inside a restaurant was excessive and completely unnecessary.
This review was never about whether policies exist — it was about repeated poor judgment, unprofessional conduct, and the way guests are spoken to and treated.
Doubling down with a defensive and misleading response only reinforces the experience described above.
