We had to call down to the front desk twice, they kept running the halls and pounding on doors. I hope that you have a better experience when you visit.

The first two rooms wouldn't unlock (low battery?) and the room we finally got into had a pretty worn out bed. The shower head was so clogged up that water was squirting all over. The staff was super helpful, but they are probably tired of apologizing for a hotel that should have been built somewhere else.

Central CA to LAX and became sleepy along the way, so I stopped at a truck stop north of Madera and conducted an online search for availability at a Hilton brand hotel. As a long-time Hilton member, I am aware that Sparks, Tru, as well as the various Hilton-branded hotels with the word ‘Suites’ or ‘Inn’ can be found in varying QUALITY. First…Hampton Inn & Suites Fresno North is a decent hotel located conveniently off of CA Highway 99. I was fortunate enough to have a very simple and pleasant check-in experience thanks to Aldo. Shortly after checking in, though, I quickly realized there was a railway that passes within a few hundred feet of the hotel. A passing train caught my attention, but the potential problem didn’t register until I finally got settled into the room and heard another train horn blaring as it zoomed by. I checked in on a Sunday around 7:30 PM and it is now 12:30 AM the following Monday, and I have heard 6 trains pass by. I am assuming this will continue throughout my stay, so I wanted to warn all potential lodgers—THIS PLACE IS NOT FAVORABLE FOR THE LIGHT SLEEPER! I am in a room on third floor. The decor (especially the wallpaper) and furniture are a bit dated and shows sight of wear, but overall the room is clean enough—good for a 2-star hotel. The hallway carpets and walls readily display aging and wear, and I frequently and clearly hear footsteps above me.
