I rarely write reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my recent experience so future guests know what to expect. Unfortunately, my stay at the Holiday Inn in Delano was extremely disappointing.
During my visit, the air conditioning did not work in my room, despite outside temperatures being over 100 degrees. To make matters worse, the television was stuck on a single channel, one that my family and I did not enjoy, and it could not be changed. When I reported these issues to the front desk that evening, I was told nothing could be done because the hotel was fully booked.
The following morning at checkout, I explained the situation again to another attendant (possibly a manager). Instead of showing any concern or even offering to walk with me to the room to verify the issues, he dismissed the problem and said the only compensation he could provide was 1,000 IHG points. Frankly, this felt like an inadequate and dismissive gesture for such a poor experience. After some back and forth, he mentioned he might offer 3,000 points if I wrote a review, which left me with the impression that the hotel was more concerned with optics than actually taking care of its guests.
To add to the inconvenience, the elevator was not working. I was fortunate to only be on the second floor, but for families, elderly guests, or those with heavy luggage, this would have been a major issue.
What made this stay especially upsetting was the reason I came to Delano: I was there to make arrangements for my mother’s funeral. I had hoped for at least a comfortable place to rest during a difficult time, but instead, I encountered discomfort, poor service, and little accountability from the staff.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. Between the broken air conditioning, non-functioning television, lack of empathy from staff, inadequate compensation, and no working elevator, I strongly suggest future guests think twice before booking here. Holiday Inn and IHG should take this feedback seriously and improve both their customer service and facility maintenance.
