This is a horrible hotel in a great location. When we tried to check in at 4:15pm, our room wasn't ready yet. Not a huge deal, but the staff tried to make it right by offering me free parking. That didn't happen (after reviewing my bill upon checkout). Then my keycards didn't work, so had to return to the front desk where there was now a very long line of people checking in. Once that was corrected, got to the room and it smelled like wet dog. Yes, they allow pets, but I'm certain they don't replace the HVAC filters often, so the thought of having to smell every dog who stayed in that room before me was sickening. Our bathroom had broken tiles and the carpet was very worn and torn. The room looked like it rented by the hour. I paid over $300 for one night in a very poorly run hotel and left angry. Now, I'm writing this review as if someone will care, but I know it's a waste of time. Whoever runs this hotel knows it's terrible and is just milking it for what they can get from unsuspecting customers. Yes, it's a very convenient location within walking distance to The Sound, but the feeling of being taken is making me want to stay elsewhere next time.

As an ex Las Vegas resident and hospitality workerthis place is outrageously expensive and the staff is severely under paid. Design is nothing unique. Del Mar has little to offer when it comes to destinations. The only thing holding this place up is the service. Service which should be compensated properly.

Another month has gone by and still never heard back from a manager or anyone else. Sent an email too and no one responded.

The worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Severely disappointed in the horrible room quality and how unprofessional the staff is. I stayed here for barely one night due to a job I had in San Diego. My employer had already paid for the room and I simply needed to check in. They found the booking and I was told I needed to pay a “holding fee” of $300. Without arguing, assuming this was normal, I paid and went to my room. Walking into the room it smelled of body odors, I didn’t want to be annoying as I only needed a few hours of sleep until leaving. As I got into bed I noticed a bug jumping around and then another and then another! I saw that the bed was infested with them. I’m not sure what bugs they were but I don’t think any bed should have bugs in it. I went to my car to make business calls and ended up basically only taking a nap in the room. As I checked out I just wanted to leave so I didn’t bother mentioning it. Two weeks went by and I never got my “holding fee”. I called the hotel and they said they had no idea what I’m talking about, that they had charged my employer for the room I stayed in and that there was no holding fee….I have bank statements that say otherwise, and they claim they have no idea why I was charged. The craziest part is that they claim they don’t know what I’m talking about but they even returned $15 (€13) for parking. I just can’t believe it.

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and we found both the service and the room to be truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived until the time we departed, we consistently experienced outstanding hospitality. The property is clearly very well-managed, and we would like to extend our sincere compliments to the General Manager, Tim, and the entire team for providing such an excellent experience.
