  Terribly outdated rooms and furniture in this hotel! I would not consider it again even if I had to travel farther to my event. The beds are old, non-supportive, and I had the worst backache after sleeping four nights in this hotel. The ventilation system is very old fashioned, on the wall by the door, outdated, that either instantaneously heats the area immediately around the heater only leaving the bathroom ice cold or does not run at all if you put it on fan for white noise at night. Then you only have fan, bringing in outside freezing cold air. It is almost impossible to see the controls, especially if the lights are dim. Outside, there is a bright outside light positioned where is blasts bright light over one of the beds through the drapes, even if they are closed tightly and fastened with a safety pin as I did. The sink in the bathroom has no vanity to put your things on. There was a glass shelf next to the sink, but it sloped downward and everything slid off. The sheets on the beds are all flat sheets, hand tucked, and when you untuck them so you can move freely, you slip and slide all over, as they are all made for king size beds. The two chairs are old-fashioned, huge and extremely heavy. There is one heavy immovable table in between these two chairs. There are not enough outlets, especially for charging multiple devices. The bedside lights between the beds are super bright and shine in your eyes when you are reading in bed. We used our flashlights instead. The one very mildly saving grace of this otherwise very uncomfortable place is the very generous included hot breakfast. Still I would not stay there just for that. Find another hotel if you want to sleep comfortably, have quieter more even ventilation, a dark room at night and a place to put your toiletries in your bathroom.

  High price, some workers don't even know how to give out keys to rooms. Their wi-fi isn't working every other day and even on the days that it does work, it shuts down every 5 minutes. I had to use my phone's hotspot the whole time. The blankets are extremely thin, there's no planning around where outlets are (the closest one to the desk in my room was behind a heavy marble countertop) and some of the countertops have random holes drilled into them.

  The University Lodge is a value hotel with a well kept secret - there is one suite available on 2nd floor. Last year I booked ordinary room and upgraded to suite. Needed proximity to University when I was dropping my daughter. I was returning back to US after many years and reluctant to drive. This hotel location is fabulous with walking distance to University and downtown. You can uber to sfo airport and inside Davis. The staff is friendly and Oliver at main desk is always helpful. I returned this year to stay for 9 nights. The suite has a kitchenette and one bedroom. There is sofa and seperate bed in main hall so works well for a family from overseas like us.
