I stayed at this hotel 2 days ago, the first room they gave me the sheets were dirty.
They gave me another room. The second room the toilet was dirty and i didnt complain, i was like atleast the sheets are clean. During my stay the hotel had a problem with the plumbing. During my stay i couldnt use the bathroom or shower. I had to go to a gas station to use the restroom. It was a very unpleasent day. I complain with the manager, and manager said i need to call Hotel.com customer service to see if i can get a refund or to pay half. Well unfortunately, that didnt happen. To make the long story short It was very unpleasent that i didnt get to enjoy the room i rented for one day. With this post i can say a lot of things but i just make it short. Till this day i am not sure if is better to rent the room directly, or with third party Hotels.com.
Before u guys book at this hotel make sure theres no plumbing issues and ur sheets are clean. For me i would never book at this hotel again. Good luck and God Bless.
Older hotel on need of better management and maintenance. Trash tossed about. Right next to a highway so you hear cars and trucks all night. Need to drive though a gas station to get into the parking lot
Positives:
- Clean rooms.
- Good breakfast.
- Friendly service at reception.
- Good amenities such as fitness center, pool (although see below negative about pool), elevators, ice machines, etc.
- Convenient location only a 15 minute drive to San Diego. There is a gas station with convenience store right next door which is useful.
Negatives:
- Property and rooms a little run down/ old (for example, the shower in the first room they gave us had no hot water, although to their credit, they quickly moved us to another room without any trouble).
- They only service rooms every 3 days (items available from reception on request). It is such a shame this place and many other hotels have moved to this policy post-COVID.
- Pool is tiny and not heated - if you are looking for a good pool, this isn’t your place.
- The hotel is next to the freeway. If your room is in the building to the left of the reception, there will be noise.
I never thought I would come on here and write this but here we are. I have been coming to this hotel every time I’m in San Diego since 2010…. I’ve never had an issue here. I only had an issue when they get new management. They don’t know what they’re doing and it’s about that time I guess… They have somebody at the front desk that doesn’t know what he’s doing nor does he know how to work a computer or read the last four numbers of a credit card… The so-called general manager never seen her before in my life. Her attitude is something to be desired…. She snapped at me because they have a computer problem and somebody at the front that is incompetent as if I hired him sidenote, I do not work here.. So I couldn’t have hired him.. After snapping at me over problems that they have she decides to tell me that she can extend me on this current day, but can’t extend me after that mind you I’ve only had two contacts with this woman in my entire life and both of them she was rude… The new breakfast room and the new lobby do look very nice, but the new management should be sent back to where they came from because that new lobby is not going to take them very far with a nasty attitude and her sidekick that they have behind the counter… I don’t even think she has any experience in customer service. I am more than positive that she used to be a debt collector that just bothers people on the phone. She’s very rude not accommodating at all. Doesn’t listen to anything that you have to say and she thinks that she’s right yet she hired somebody that doesn’t know how to read the last four digits on a credit card…. She tried to tell me the card that I was paying with wasn’t accepted yet it was the same card that they took my deposit off of and it’s the same card I booked and checked into this room with with zero issues. Daniel is the only person that is still at this hotel that has been here since I started coming here in 2010 and he also has never given me issues. He’s always been nothing but helpful sweet and accommodating. The new management needs to be sent back where they came from because their attitudes are disgusting not accommodating. It’s not giving customer service at all. I do not recommend this property just so long as these specific people are in charge… I will be putting in a formal complaint once I check out out of this hotel for sure HERES AN UPDATE- 4/6/2026
THEY ACTUALLY STOLE $389.81 OFF OF MY DEBIT CARD…. I have the receipts showing that my balance was zero when I left obviously, you have to pay daily. They took the money off of my debit card two days after I checked out they also never gave me my deposit back…. I did put in a formal complaint. They are not responding to customer service obviously because why would a thief do that? Please be careful with this property. Do not give them your information the new general manager and the people at the front desk are all working together to do this…. I will post an update if anything comes of it… I will be contacting the local new station as well
I am surprised by the number of high reviews, as my experience was disappointing. While the property has strong potential due to its convenient location near the highway, nearby stores, and a gas station, the overall condition of the rooms did not meet expectations. This was a one-time stay for a family event, and based on this experience, I would choose to stay elsewhere in the future.
The hotel appears to function as a quick stop for travelers crossing the border, which is reflected in the constant flow of guests. Although I understand the property is independently owned and operated, there are clear areas that require attention, particularly the condition of the carpets and upholstered furniture, which were noticeably dirty. Additionally, highway noise was significant due to poor window insulation and gaps under the doors.
A family member with pest control experience noted potential concerns with small insects, especially on lower floors, due to the gaps under the doors. While we did not encounter major issues during our short stay on the second floor, it remains a concern. Overall cleanliness was lacking, and the condition of the mattress was also unsatisfactory.
I do not place blame on the cleaning staff, as they appear to be working under time constraints. These issues point more toward management and the need for investment in maintenance and renovations. Improvements such as replacing carpets, or better removing them, and upholstered chairs with more hygienic alternatives would make a significant difference.
On a positive note, the breakfast was decent, the lobby was presentable, and the staff were courteous and responsive, promptly providing extra towels upon request. However, meaningful upgrades to the rooms are necessary to improve the overall guest experience.
Overall, the stay was not worth the price given the condition of the rooms and level of cleanliness.
