  I just want to take a moment to shout out Les, the property manager at SureStay by Best Western Castro Valley. Not only is he professional and hospitable, but he truly goes above and beyond to accommodate guests whose situations may be a little different than others. That level of understanding and respect isn’t common, and it absolutely matters. Les is always friendly, approachable, and solution-oriented. The rooms are consistently clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The entire property has a welcoming, positive vibe that makes you feel safe and respected. On top of that, the entire front desk and housekeeping staff deserve recognition. They’re always friendly, extremely helpful, and professional. You can tell the team works together to keep the place running smoothly and to make guests feel genuinely cared for. If you’re staying in the area and want somewhere clean, welcoming, and managed by someone who actually cares, this is it. -MJ

  Unfair lending practices rights violations The staff at this motel are very kind and accommodating, and they work well together. For an older property while the building is worn and it can show in the rooms; the rooms are decent, parking is good, and the breakfast is basic but acceptable. The main concern is the management. The manager, who is older, openly described himself as an “angry person” and mentioned that although he could retire, he chooses not too because he feels no one else can do the job. Unfortunately, it shows—his patience for this type of work seems to have worn thin. More troubling is how the manager and owner handle long-term stays. Although there’s a stated 14-day rule, it’s not applied consistently. Some guests are allowed to stay long-term even though it smells like smoke in their non-smoking room while others are told they cannot stay even the 14 days, with no clear reason given. From what I observed, these decisions appeared influenced by race and personal background.—it's illegal. "42 U.S.C. §2000a (a)All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, as defined in this section, without discrimination on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin." It’s disappointing because the regular workers are genuinely great, but the discriminatory practices of the management overshadow what could otherwise be a good experience.

  only complaint is carpet floors. mine were clean but you just never know. additionally, the sink only had cold water but the shower was warm no problem. now for good: 1) the rooms are huge with a separate bathroom w/ closing bathroom door (a big plus for me) 2) the staff was very nice. i accident made coffee for a whole liter so it spilled over my cup without me knowing. yet the man at the front desk was understanding and we even chatted about baseball. super nice guy on the older side but youthful spirit 3) towels were very plush and clean. bedding too. no stains but i just am not a fan of the older style bedding look wise 4) free breakfast and coffee. my type of place 5) easy parking and area is relatively safe overall would book here again anytime i’m near CV

  Booked a one night stay while working in a different city & was very pleased with my stay. When you check in at the front desk, the staff will greet you promptly and the check in process takes less than 5 minutes as long as you’ve made a reservation. They did inform me that they were worried I was coming for a walk in, but were relieved when I said I had a reservation. This location seems to be fairly popular and doesn’t have a ton of last minute vacancies! Best to plan ahead. The lobby is small, but they offer water bottles all day and a continental breakfast in the mornings. They have toast, pastries, coffee, juice, yogurt (which just so happened to be protein yogurt at that time!), and oatmeal. My single bed room was HUGE! Lots of floor space, decently sized restroom. The only thing that was strange to me was that the sink was not in the bathroom, it was closer to the entryway. Also, parking is super easy and there’s a ton of it! The room was kept fairly clean. I was very happy to see that there was no grime/buildup in the bathtub specifically. I’d happily stay here again whenever I find myself in Hayward/CV!
