  You can tell this is geared more toward business lodging - the rooms are simple and a little cold - but they provide some great amenities for families too, like lawn games, board games to check out, and a great pool! Would absolutely stay again!

  The hotel itself was good. Parking was plentiful. The gentleman who checked me in, tall red haired young man was fantastic. He suggested a wonderful Italian restaurant for me to check out called 2051 Cocina Italiana- it was phenomenal. He actually even checked my room preference which is unheard of from a front desk clerk these days. I believe his name was Dylan but I could be wrong. I love the feature for texting you once you check in and sporadically asking how things are. There was also a short curly haired young woman working one evening who went above and beyond to get me some honey when I started getting a little under the weather. I came in around 1am on Saturday night and the woman working the front desk didn’t look or even bother speaking to me. Outside of her, everyone in the hotel was amazingly friendly. The bathrooms are well equipped with towels and there’s a micro fridge in the King room and they are sparkling clean. I declined housekeeping so I could get my bonus points! 4 nights @ 500/night is worth it. My entire 4 night stay was paid using points. Every housekeeper I passed told me hi and was very friendly! My couple of minor inconveniences is that there’s no microwave in the room, which seems unusual for IHG hotels these days. They are located on each floor by the ice machines, but that’s not convenient imo. The lack of tea/coffee being available is also a nuisance. I have grown accustomed as a Diamond Elite member to the new machines they have. I’m a tea drinker and bring my own, I just like having hot water available and a different tea option. Hot water is available in the gym (??) using a portable water container. I imagine coffee drinkers must not care for this either. GET THE MACHINE!!! The hotel is located about 10 mins off the I-5. When I booked the room was much cheaper than everything else around and also had the highest ratings of IHG hotels nearby. This is why I booked it. Overall this was a wonderful stay.

  My parents and I flew in for a memorial/celebration of life. My parents stayed here previously and I had the opportunity to stay here 1/29-1/31/26. Patty Dahnke was by far the best host imaginable. She took such great care of us and my parents that there are no words that can emphasize how much she cares. She is truly a one of a kind. Thank you Patty❤️

  As an event planner & coordinator I can say hands down the holiday inn Carlsbad venue & banquet staff have been some of the easiest and professional people I work with in North County, SD. I have had the opportunity to execute many events for well over 5 years with them and communication is always clear, organization is on point, customer service is top priority for them towards the coordinator and the client. They work as a team with you and really make you feel confident in any case scenario, they are there to have your back and make sure that the event is executed properly. I haved worked with Jenn & Cesar for many years and most recently accomplished an event with Jenn & Luca, as well as Mario. They have all been fantastic, the ballroom is very spacious as well as their outdoor terrace courtyard which is a plus! Many of my clients absolutely love the holiday inn Carlsbad, in fact we have a client that just had her daughters Quinceanera party on 1-10-26, she is a returning client, we also did her oldest daughters Quinceanera at the holiday inn horizon ballroom two years ago! Many of their guests came from out of town so our clients loved the convenience of the event portion as well as the hospitality with the stratus restaurant in-house, and the hotel room accommodations. I highly recommend this venue if you are a planner shopping for your client or if you are a customer shopping on your own!
