Let me say that this is supposed to be celebrating 28th wedding anniversary. First night after coming back from dinner... we wanted to relax but unfortunately we could not open the screen door to our balcony. They wanted to have maintenance come in & fix it.... really? Its late at night and we wanted to relax. So they moved us to the empty room next door. We got settled in... everything seemed fine until we noticed that the AC was not working. Had to open the sliding door to get some cool breeze but couldn't leave it open cause we were on the first floor and open to the street. Again, they moved us to another room. Got there... the room was pleasant. We finally got to rest a little bit. Got breakfast, walked along the beach then got ready for our couples massage. After our massage got back to our room & I swear... the room smelled like rotten eggs. It was coming from the ac unit. We were livid at this time. Had their maintenance guy come up & said there was a smell so they had to move us again!!! At this point we were just like... let's get dinner & sleep it off. This was not the romantic getaway we were expecting to have... moving from room to room. We moved 4 times. We were not satisfied with the services provided to us at all.
All I have to say... Cape Rey please do better.

Cape Rey was a nice resort stay, however not to the 4 Star hotel level. Scuffs on walls all around, in room and hallways. Elevators smelt of burning rubber and shook for a few seconds at every stop. Restaurant has huge breakfast portions, matching the price. Staff though out the hotel and restaurant are very friendly. But could be slow at times. The in-room phone to lobby/ room service was very staticy and hard to know if you would actually connect as no one pick up the phone. There are multiple QR codes to give you hotel information in the room but they all lead to different sites with different information, including from the Hilton app and the information provided on the official sites are wrong after speaking with the front desk. Parking is a walk across the street (residential) or around the building and down hill for each, $40 for self parking, $50 for valet. The parking fee can be used for as part of the AMEX Hotel Collection credit. Getting to the Hotel is easy right off of I-5. Beach access is across the PCH and through an RV park.

My wife and I had the most incredible stay at the Cape Rey! From the moment we walked in, we knew that this experience would be extra special, and we were absolutely correct. BIG shoutout to Kevin who checked us in (and to the other front desk agent from New Zealand!!)… WOW! We felt welcomed and right at home from the first moment. The hotel is immaculate and the room was *next level*!! The beds were some of the most comfortable hotel beds we ever slept in and the pool and hot tub were excellent as well. Thanks to all of the wonderful staff at the Cape Rey for an unforgettable stay!!

We just got here, transferred from another hiton because the pool was out. (Which took over an hour) We are diamond members and we're told our room type would be the same, they charged us $60. The location is out of town (we should have looked) Waited for valet for 15 min at least, when we checked in the girl was not welcoming for my husbands birthday. She should have done more as a diamond hilton member. Ill update this post as the time goes on.i have wasted all day just to get to my room. Ok, so now we have gone to town for dinner and walked around Carlsbad. Amazing dinner at Ocean Blue. The valet was great when we got back. The pool and hottub were nice. We had the dessert from the restaurant and that was delicious. The following day they gave us a 2 pm checkout that was great. So all and all if it wasn't for the girl at the front desk, the out of town location it would have been much better. The view is nice and the rooms are pretty good. I will probably not come back here.

I'm very disappointed with my recent experience! I came here early on a Sunday morning to meet friends for breakfast. Since I recently had knee surgery, I wanted to use the valet parking because I couldn't walk the distance to/from the parking lot. I pulled into the valet space, the only car there at the time, and waited, and waited, and waited. There was a valet there, he looked at me when I pulled up. But he was busy in a conversation. Valet #2 came outside, looked at me, walked around, then went right past me to the car that pulled in behind me. He spoke with them, but didn't park their car. As he was walking back past me, he turned around and as an afterthought, motioned me to pull my car up a space. I did, he went back inside. Valet #3 came out another door, looked at me, and proceeded to engage in conversation with valet #1 and company.
Now, it seems to me that if you're upscale enough to employ 3 valets, at least I one of them should be able to park 1 car! After I pulled up, I waited another 5 minutes, before I finally left my car there - locked.
When I returned, after a delightful breakfast, valet #2 tried to get a little snarky with me for leaving my car there without the keys. I just looked at him, disgusted, got in and drove away.( I wonder if it's because I'm Brown)
It might be helpful if you had some handicap ♿️ parking closer to the door!
